You need a fish hook remover... It is like an ice pick with the tip bent in a U shape, you can dehook without touching the fish and it is great for sabiki dehooking too😁🐟

The reason I’m asking is on the shank of the same type anchor , mine says 14# (pounds) and seems as I’ve gotten older 65 , it may be overkill for a 26’ bay boat. Anyone’s thoughts? Check your shank and see if it’s engraved ? I may go down to the next size 9#

On my honeymoon to Bermuda many years ago, I insisted on renting a boat and a fishing rod much to my new wife's chagrin. Went out into a little bay and caught a squirrelfish (beautiful pinking orange color), but it had some massive dorsal spines that poked holes well into my hand as I tried to unhook it. Was bleeding pretty good all over the boat as my wife laughed her ass off at me and said I deserved such. Point of note, skip the fishing on a honeymoon. Actually I just looked it up and its official name is the "Longspine Squirrelfish". Second point of note, cut the line.

@@SouthFloridaFishingChannel I like Tan for mine, hides some stains that don't wash out. Maybe Boat Daddy Pink too. It is great if they have a grommet hole too. I use a small aluminum carabiner to hook them to my beltloop, so I don't have to search for the towel when I need it. Some stores use the super cheap shower curtain hooks . They work but the small carabiner are more desirable to most. Oh and design... The Sword Fish and of course the standard Boat Daddy... After I wash mine, I will vacuum pack them with my food saver machine. That keeps them dry and clean while they are in storage. Also, I pack some with a pair of the cheap Harbor Freight gloves just in case... Store everything in a bucket with a lid along with all my papers incase I'm stopped by Fish and Wildlife... Rock On

If you like the netting around the eggs, you should see what do they with worms for stripers in New Jersey (create a reusable bait that does not fall apart or is easily stolen). Maybe you can do the same with small chunks of leftover fish after cleaning them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2fSYZd8mtKBja8

ROFL "the stick part of a shovel" - translation = "handle" Caught many a salmon in the 1990's in upstate New York (salmon river) full of eggs, you could bring them to a station where they would clean the females for free, but they kept the eggs to cure and sell for bait
