I've used embossing powder on baked clay. It's great to use, you just can't hold the heat gun in one place. It can also peel off, so some sort of sealant is required.

Embossing powders are fun to mix with pc. I just got some new molds and have been busy experimenting with embossing powder & liquid clay. Interesting results

Love these, the one with the rocks is my favourite and I think I have something very similar...somewhere lol. I've used embossing powders on clay for a faux bezel but with the heat gun, I didn't think the oven was hot enough to melt the powders but now I know, thanks Kath x

I’ve always wanted to try embossing power but I always thought I would have to use embossing inks with it. Thank you so much for showing what small rocks and powders can do. I’m so excited to get started

Kathryn, what are the "rocks?" Also, did you have to give your items a blast with the heat gun after baking or did they work that well just from baking? I've been struggling with this technique. I think maybe I'm not putting enough on and I didn't try to burnish or pat it down. Love watching you. Your voice is calming too! Thank you!

Hi Kathryn, just what l was looking for. Bought some cosmic pixie powder and cosmic shimmer embossing powder. As a complete novice had no idea how to use these. So doing something like you have shown us would work? Have you by any chance got a tut for sanding and buffing with sandpaper? Thanks for being there for us all. Stay safe.

thanks Kath, enjoy your cosmic shimmers, I haven't got a tut about sanding, due to the fact lots of folk have done them, but I may do in the future x

There are tons of tutorials for sure. The basics are #1 wear a mask and eye protection. Even though polymer clay is usually sanded wet, the fine dust can still be breathed in. A good rule of thumb is to always always think safety first; wear a mask for sanding, working with any solvent type products (some paints, inks, glues and sealers are solvents) and when using powders - mica powder in particular is extremely damaging, but any powders shouldn’t be in your lungs 😷 ANYway haha ... use a wet/dry sandpaper ie automotive. Rotary tools also have wet/dry discs. There are blocks and soft pads as well. Personally I use polishing papers. You start with 400 grit if there are big marks, 600 if not. Then sand with each grit to 1000 or 1200. You can go much higher; I stop there and buff with a muslin or cotton wheel on my dremel. Sanding and buffing make all the difference in taking a hobby piece to a gorgeous, professional piece of art. I actually learned from Ginger of The Blue Bottle Tree. She is phenomenal, a gifted artist and amazing instructor. Her website is chock full of free tips, tricks, artists and how tos. She also has tutorials for sale; worth every penny! This is what taught me how to finish my pieces and sell them for more than I ever dreamed. thebluebottletree.com/sanding-and-buffing-polymer-clay/ Hope this helps! Sorry to hijack Katheryn; I loved this video, very nice work! Thank you for sharing your talent 😊
