Yet another excellent video! Really appreciate the effort you put into this. Small wonder that I decided to become a Patreon supporter earlier this year, because I think you deserve it.

Loved your video. You are always so clear. My problem was when I opened it in PSE it was not longer in Photos. But now I know what questions to ask when I call Apple. Thanks Gary!

Use keyword tags. You can tag then "5 Stars" or "9/10" or Good/Better/Best, etc.

Hi Gary! Could you go more into detail on externally editing in photoshop? Where does the psd file go when I save it? Thanks!
@macmost Жыл бұрын
Try it. If you save as a PSD file it goes where you save it. But normally you edit it and it saves right back to Photos, no PSD file is created.

I use it often to open a photo in Pixelmator Pro. After I make my edits I have to switch to photos and when it shows my edits, I can save it in Pixelmator Pro. If I just save it, the changes aren’t in the photos app. A strange bug. You forgot a other way: right click on the photo when it is in the library with the other photos

This video is quite salient. My primary editor is affinity photo, but Pixelmator pro has some better features, an I use Luminar Neo. I wish affinity photo had plugins for Pixelmator pro and Luminar Neo. Put Neo to the side (since it is an overpriced hack), exchanging images between Pixelmator pro and affinity photo is a pain. I will try using photos app as the intermediary for editing a image with both apps. Thank you !!!

Great video! I've been playing with this myself for a bit. Do you know what happens if you use raw to edit, does it stay as raw?

With Affinity Photo 2 it doesn't work to save the changes in Apples Photos-App as long as the image is still open in Affinity. Weird Apple or Affinity bug.

Hi! I have purchased MacBook Pro 16 M2 Max a couple of days back. I am unable to locate the Edit button in the Photos App. Have they discontinued the edit feature in 2023? Do reply. Best regards
@macmost Жыл бұрын
Definitely not. View a single photo and you should see it at the top right.

Hi, do you have a plugin that helps to reduce video size in Photos without loosing the meta data by exporting it outside Photos?
@macmost4 ай бұрын
I don't know of anything that would do that.

Hey Gary: Seashore (free, which you show here and in past) used within Photos I find perfect for pasting jpg's onto jpg's. That's something Photos alone doesn't offer.

How can I print a picture on both side of the paper or photo paper want to do a party centerpiece for my granddaughter
@macmost2 ай бұрын
If your printer supports two-sided printing, you'll need to refer to its documentation to find out how. Otherwise, you just have to print on one side, and then reuse that piece of paper to feed into the printer to print on the other side.

Very useful, thanks Gary. I have the DXO Photolab 5 editor. It appears under "Edit With" but not as an editing extension. I am running MacOS Catalina 15.7, as my Mac is too old to run later versions. Is there any way I can add it to the list of editing extensions?
@macmost2 жыл бұрын
No, that's something the developer has to build. They have to add actual functionality to the app to handle it.

Does Jack have a missing eye? My kids have a golden retriever rescue dog with missing eye…the sweetest dog!
@macmost2 жыл бұрын
No, I just taught him to wink when I take a picture 😆 Just kidding. Yes, he was born with only one. Doesn't miss it at all. Does your golden sometimes move his head slightly from side to side to judge distances? Jack does that.

Great idea. But, why would anyone want to edit in two apps? Just open the one app that provides most of the editing features. nothing more or less. One app.
@macmost Жыл бұрын
Probably most people do. But I may use Pixelmator for most things, then want to use Photoshop here and there for something only Photoshop can do.
@MJHiteshew Жыл бұрын
Because you can use Photos as your organizing and tagging/sorting library. You can do all your edits in Photos without having to leave Photos, open/import an image into another app, export it out and add the edited version back into Photos. Photos allows for "round-tripping" with other editing apps. Plus it’s easy to create versions.
