This one really interests me. US Pharmacopeia (USP) spec food grade from NW Concentrates runs $113.14 for 50 lbs shipped to my house. For that same $34 mentioned here, you get 15 lbs of calcium hydroxide that has ICPed well by multiple users. I'm currently using it in saturated kalk form, and although I don't have silica (the common oxide form of silicon) results, I do have tank silicon results of 0.146ppm. That tank has been dosed nightly with VITACAL-H kalk. No other contamination noted. As much as I agree with the message shared, which is simply better products may yield better results, what I'd enjoy seeing is three-peat testing of multiple identical-ish tanks dosed with various calcium hydroxide offerings. Maybe this exists. If so, that would be an amazing thing to share; but until then, I very much appreciate the quality and price of VITACAL-H.

I've been in the hobby since 1986 kalkwasser is pretty much kalkwasser I've never heard of a high-grade kalkwasser

BRS kalk is 4lb for 33.99. Captiv8 isol8 kalk is 5.5lb for the same price and why better product bye far.

@TrevorHiller it's devolves alot faster. It has a consistent ph of 12.5 every time. And my ph is higher when dosing. Compared to BRS kalk that I use to use. And I no longer have high aluminum when do doing ipc test.

What about kalk plus 2 from Brightwell. Is it a scam

This is my question as well, as someone who already doses Kalk +2. They're not exactly lightweights in the chemistry department as a company, yet Dr. Bingman's claims here & Brightwell claims do appear mutually exclusive. And while my chemistry skill are adequate for the basics, this question is well beyond me. I'd love to see a follow up on this.

The “+2” are naturally occurring impurities in kalkwasser, like most things brightwell…. It’s all creative marketing. There is even an argument the strontium and magnesium are not even soluble.
