I'm stuggling to access my files or open my image sequences all in folders. Each have an image.list that play in a video editor but that doesn't seem to be recognised by NAtron.

Hi streamsandgalaxies! Thank you for the comment - Just to clarity, which image format is being used in the image sequences?

@@Photolearningism thankyou for replying! I'm a bit overwhelmed with learning alot of FOSS at once, trying to see if I can go between Natron & Cinelerra with compatible media codecs. I have sequenced TIFF 16bit, saved with layers, rec 709. Each folder has an image.list . Also I have (H.264/AVC/MPEG-4 Part 10) MTS video that I can transcode to whatever works best in Natron. I need transparancies.

Admittedly, I haven't worked much with Natron recently, but have been using image sequences extensively in other FOSS tools (Krita, KDEnlive, etc.). I've had great success using PNG image sequences, which has maintained the background transparency between tools. I did confirm I could import PNG image sequences to Natron and could overly them (using merge). It respected the transparency layer with no issue. In terms of video, I've used Alpha MOVs successfully, which also keeps transparency in Natron. Hope that helps some!

@@PhotolearningismBy installing the latest version directly instead of via snap.d, I was able to access/play the image sequences in my partition (rather than limited to /home). I could also install the community scripts & plugins & I can now access my separate layers via tools-extract layers. Now I have to figure out how to translate my layers (which were parametric masks) to alpha. Have you any idea if one can generally make use of parametric masks from one program to convert the background to a transparency?

What ways have you used images and layers in #Natron (or another compositing tool)?
