Using INDEX and MATCH in Excel

This video shows the viewer how to look up and interpolate table data in Excel. This Excel technique is useful for interpolating rating data or any type of paired data. This is a commonly used technique for analyzing engineering and scientific data. This video will show how to interpolate values in columns.
1. The video begins with a discussion of paired data, which can also be known as x-y data or xy data or data that contains independent and dependent variables.
2. The video then moves on to using the MATCH function in Excel and shows the viewer how the function works using lookup_value (lookup value), lookup_array (lookup array), and match_type (match type). The MATCH function in Excel provides the position of a value.
3. The video then incorporates the INDEX function and shows the viewer how the function works using array, row_num (row num), and col_num (col num). The INDEX function is Excel provides a value. The INDEX function in Excel is paired with the MATCH function in Excel to provide the values needed for interpolation to solve for the dependent variable.
4.) Once the row numbers and column numbers and corresponding values are derived, the interpolation to find the value is then shown.
