Using iOverlay with OpenKneeboard and iRacing

Update on this- I was able to use the overlays in the "Overlays" section, buy selecting the "show overlays in taskbar", under general. This allowed OpenKneeboard to see the "windows". This versus using the "streaming" section and using url's. Both work but in different ways. Thanks Lance and Adrian for helping me with this!

Amazing video, so helpful. I thought it still wasnt possible with openxr. Couldnt be happier. Cheers amigo. BTW tip for Quest 3 users, put some tape on sensor between eyes so you can take it off without swithing off

Some mistakes with this, like the overlays stay up if you have it in race preview (even outside of the car). Sorry for not moving the video out of the way when I was adjusting the second Overlay...🙂

Great video thanks David! I just started using openkneeboard and am thrilled to get overlays in VR! I’ve been using the top list of overlays (not the streaming ones), with the “window capture” tabs instead of web dashboard. They seem to work fine - do you mind sharing what was happening with yours to cause you to go the web route? I get frustrated because every time I reboot or relaunch an app my kneeboards go white. So I wrote down my kneeboard placement settings and just re-add them every time - super annoying. But I can’t wait until tomorrow to check on the “default” drop-down and change it from automatic to an actual overlay. I think that will fix it! 🤞🏻 I also read to go to Settings->Tabs and make sure Match window title is “match exactly”. With both of those adjustments I hope I don’t have to go through the tab creation process over and over!

For some reason it wouldn’t show when I used the windows capture approach. I’m gonna go back and take a second look. Just now messing with the multiple profiles and creating from default. I also have to refresh the tabs from time to time, to get them to work.

@@davidvenroy310 There's a setting in iOverlay "Oculus VR compatability (restart needed)". If you turn that on the regular "Overlays" section items get opened in separate windows by iOverlay. It is these separate windows that OpenKneeboard can see with the "Window Capture" tab. As Lance mentioned, ensuring the window title is matched means OpenKneeboard will pick up the right overlay window.
