More advice please. Can you tell me how to advance through my marks? Also, how to delete them? The instructions in the manual confuse me... thanks.

I've done a video on this one. It's pretty easy, you can use the REW and F. FWD buttons to move between the marks. To remove them, use the two buttons to put yourself on the marker and then click the MARK SET button. It should get rid of it. Hopes that helps.

Hello my dude! Thanks for the continuing content on this rarely discussed but awesome device. I just got my DP-32 set up in the living-room along with a bunch of synths and drum machines, so I can lay down some tracks (using a Sync track to synchronize multiple recordings) which I'll then record over with my live instruments (such as drums, bass, guitar, other keys). This is a lot of tracks, and I can easily fit all of them in the 20 available without splitting stereo tracks, but I'm kind of at a head-scratcher here. The synths/drum machines have a short limit on their sequencers (like 1 minute of songwriting potential or 16 bars more-or-less). I want to extend the 4 tracks another minute by recording a second take after the first minute finishes, with new song parts etc, without any cut or pop. How smooth is the punching in? Does it automatically do a very quick fade out/in to reduce pop, or is it just like a cut/copy/paste of the exact start and stop? In other words, if I want to smoothly overlap 4 tracks but the first take has reverb etc, will I need to use 8 tracks just to have a reasonable back-and-forth between the two sets of 4 tracks, before I even get to my live instruments? And likewise, when recording guitar parts and I want to do one measure at a time for any reason, do I need 2 tracks to layer over each other just to track 1 guitar "part"? OR is there dubbing over? In other words, additive recording? So the tail end of some reverb or cymbal hit will remain on the track as I record *additional* sound on top of it on the same track?? This has been puzzling me for a while, and with so much puzzle to get through before I'm even composing songs and recording on this thing, it would be great to know how my process should work out! Thanks in advance!! :)

Er...confused here. I'm researching which multitrack to buy and everything I've seen says the 24 is identical to the 32 apart from track configuration. Why would you need to move your recording to the 32 to master? Why not master on the 24? Or record everything to the 32 in the first place? Might be a stupid question but I'm a total novice when it comes to recording. Cheers...

I also confused. I didn't know the 24 and 32 had different mastering.

Don't take this as how you SHOULD use the system. I was asked by a subscriber how could he use his DP32's mastering system when he's recorded something on his Model 24, which doesn't have the mastering system. So the mixdown was done on the Model 24 and I took the stereo mix that it created and then used that on the DP32 to do the final mixdown. I only needed a stereo track, I could've used any stereo track on the DP32, but I chose the last one because it was there. Hope this helps explain it better.

Also, some people like the sound from the Model series since it is an analog board, but it doesn't offer the mastering system that the DP24 and 32 do.

When I talk about 24 and 32. I'm talking about the Model 24 and DP32. Different machines. The DP 24 and DP 32 are pretty much the same thing.

@@MikeFoerster I have recorded some songs in a series I am doing. I was doing some preset compression at the end mastering on DP24. I'm now thinking they are coming out very heavy in bass compared to just running it through normalize. My question is, the previous way, I compressed, then normalized (main file). Is the _z file pre-compression/normalize or just pre-normalize? I'm not sure it would be possible to go back and norlaize the _z file anyway if it was pre-compression. I appreciate any help or insight and appreciate your videos.

Any idea why i often get a normalization error on the dp24? Not always, but often? Keep up the great videos!

I've never gotten a normalization error. Is it a file space issue?
@MikeFoerster

If it happens again, write down the error and I'll see what I can find out.
@reardondearborn

@@MikeFoerster definitely not. It's happened several times even when I've had a fresh sd card. Maybe it's the order i do things. I noticed that you don't turn off compression before normalizing. Maybe that's my mistake?
@reardondearborn

@@MikeFoerster it just says normalization error, and you can't exit.
@MikeFoerster
@MikeFoerster Жыл бұрын
I doubt it. Normalization is its own procedure and doesn't need anything else.

Why don’t you record and mix directly on the DP¿, what is the advantage of mastering on the DP vs mastering in the box¿. Thank you¡

For this video, I didn't record it on the Model 24 because the person who asked me to make the video used their Model 24 to do the recording and wanted to use there DP32 for the mixdown. I have done full top to bottom recordings on the DP32 and love it.
