The Summit sounds so good; especially with layering … ❤️

It really does, that's why it's right above my main Montage 😊

Excellent. Layering…especially via MIDI…..is often WAY more interesting than just processing a single timbre.

Great video! Some of my favorite multi timbral synths include the 32 channel Roland XV-5080, and 16 channel Access Virus series and the Lord Of Boards Korg Kronos 😂

i love novation synths!!

I'm so jealous of the number of synths you have.
@valuemasteryАй бұрын
Actually no need to be jealous imho, at least if you're just a hobbyist like I am. For some reason I fell fos GAS over many years, and have many synths now. With the result that I don't know them very well, because I simply don't have the time to dig deep into all of them. Now I realize I would have been better off with less synths. Just to give you an idea, I have Novation Peak, Oberheim TEO-5, Behringer Model 15, Roland System-8, Moog Sub37, Roland Fantom 6, Yamaha PSR-SX920, multiple Elektrons (Analog 4, Analog Rytm, Digitone, Digitakt, Syntakt, Digitone Keys), Roland MC-707/101/TR-8S/TR-6, all of the Roland Boutiques, three Yamaha Refaces, Ableton Push 3 Standalone and Move, Teenage Engineering OP1, and many more to list here... you get the idea.

In 1981 we did some crazy stuff w/ a synth & large speakers. It was at Jazz Lab for my college & we made a Jet Airplane sounds so loud & real that it brought people in from all around to see what had happened? THat one was a Moog w/ huge speakers but I can't imagine all the ins/outs of these keyboards today? Here trying to learn something, thanks

Some of the synths now are SO capable and complex, they take quite a bit of study and work to learn to utilize to their full potential.

@@ScottsSynthStuff - I see that in your short but thorough explanation of the two different sounds at once. You split them & explained it quite well. I played a sax in college but I'm here b/c of your plane. I happen to think this is really kool as well so I'm sucking it up. Thanks for the class, Teacher. peace

Blofeld, Virus - these are multitembral (each has up to 16 parts) ;) BTW: Blofeld is very affordable.

Nice. Both my Roland JP8080 and my Nord Wave 2 can do that, but I'm using it far too little. Your friendly reminder was more than welcome.

I remember before bitimbral synths I would chain my Juno106 and another synth together via midi/midi thru and voila, a bimembral sound.
@ScottsSynthStuffАй бұрын
I did the same thing!!!

The virus is the king 👑. 16 parts, 16 engines and 16fxs

I keep trying to teach my friends about blending but it goes right over the head. I honestly do most of my layering in the daw by matching up the wave lengths and than adjusting the volumes adequately. I like doing it mostly with guita sounds and drums, Like for example a mix of a power kit with a electro,808 and a debassed brush kit when adjusted properly can give me drums that hit,bump and are very dynamic especially in the metal parts
@ScottsSynthStuffАй бұрын
It's very common to layer drum sounds like this - especially kick and snare sounds. I OFTEN layer a snare and a hand clap (or two) in my productions.

Technically, Kurzweil VAST synth is king of layering with 32 layers per patch, and 16 patches can be layered in a multi, for a total of 512 layers...but...no synth is making the polyphony for it, and doubtful the layers would be usable. Never owned a Yamaha synth except the DX; I assumed the 8-oscillator patch of the Montage and MODX used 8 voices of poly, but someone told me I was wrong and each 8-oscillator patch uses only one voice. IF that is true and Yamaha somehow only uses one voice per an eight oscillator patch then Montage is the king of layering.

Yamaha Montage M is the "layer monster" here: In every single AWM2 part, there can be up to 128 elements (samples/oscillators). Combine this with the possibility of having 8 (16) parts in one performance. But as you mentioned, this is all theoretically, because of the "low" polyphony of 256 voices (roundabout, not exact technically correct). Plain craziness 🤣
