Using Light in Street Photography

This video explains how to effectively use light in street photography.
1. Choosing the Scene
- Good shooting spots are at the boundary between light and shadow (e.g. under building eaves)
- A simple wall makes the best background. Avoid cluttered backgrounds.
2. Lighting Direction
- Utilize side lighting in addition to backlighting
- Side lighting can nicely separate the subject from the background
3. Composing the Shot
- Incorporate geometric elements like triangular shapes of light fall
- Refine the composition further through trimming
4. Post-Processing
- Convert to monochrome, adjust contrast
- Slightly emphasize highlight areas
5. Explanation of Finished Work
- Creates a mysterious world through contrast of light/shadow, geometric composition
- Aims to leave room for the viewer's imagination

Another visual treat that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also occupies a special place in the “cinema behind my forehead”. Headlights on, camera ready and now (I say): action! Although it is a still image of a scene, immediately after the photo is visualized in my head, the action begins, picks up movement and becomes the plot of an exciting story. Depending on your film preference (for me it is the “Film Noir” genre, among others), the imagination becomes the director. The photo also contains an interesting reference to one of the main characters, who can already be seen in it. In my opinion, every detail we discover when we look closely in this type of expressive black and white photography has something essential or meaning. Likewise (because you asked) the lettering on the building in the background. There are no limits to individual interpretation. But I'd rather end here, because your eyes are probably already tired from reading my lines. Kind regards - Monika

非常に分かりやすく、勉強になる動画をありがとうございます。今すぐカメラを持って、晴れたビル街へ出掛けたくなります。 1点お伺いしたく、他動画等でご説明済みでしたら恐縮ですが、現場で撮る際にカラー設定で撮る理由は何なのでしょうか。初めからモノクロ設定で撮った方が出来上がりのイメージがつきやすいかと思うのでしょうが、いかがでしょうか。（勘違いしておりましたらすいません）

コメントありがとうございます。カラー設定で撮る理由ですが、後でRAW現像するのでカラーでもモノクロでも関係ないからです。そして撮影時に脳内ではモノクロのイメージがほぼ完璧に出来上がっているというのもあります。慣れないうちはモニターをモノクロにしても良いかと思います。
