When we see videos about menstrual cup, it feels like it's very easy and mess at first but should work in 2-3 tries. But that's not the case. I tried menstrual cup.. and there was a leaking problem and it won't open up in there.. I tried 2-3 times but every time it won't open and it will leak. So, I switched back to tampons and pads. But I was also concerned about our mother earth.. everytime I throw a pad or tampons, I know it will be polluting earth. So I decided to try again. And It was very uncomfortable and same leaking problem. I then did some research.. got to know about cervix and also that cervix position changes when we are on our periods and we have to buy the cup of a particular length ( which depends on the position of cervix). I found out that I was using a big cup than I should. Initially, I thought we just have to buy the cup according to your age and other factors (like kids and sexual activity) I think many women / girls out there do not know about this.. or may be it was just me.. but I think people should consider this factor as well. People just keep trying different companies cup and still not getting the right one. Prachi if you are reading this long comment, please tell women about this more deeply so that they can take their decision properly and can buy the correct menstrual cup for themselves. Unmarried women should stop worrying about hymen breakage. What's the point in being so obsessed with keeping your hymen intact? If you think that will get you a suitable husband... Trust me any guy who thinks like that about your body, is not capable of being a suitable husband. Own your body . You are an individual. not some egoistic cauvanist's property. If you don't respect your rights over your own body, and think of your hymen (which btw can break for a thousand reasons...sometimes even without any reason), as a special prize for a man, why would somebody else respect your body, your life choices or treat you any different?

Thank you for creating a video on menstrual cup. However, there are some points that I feel you should be aware of which I have listed below. I am a cup evangelist and encourage women to use it. I have been using it for the past 19 months now and have been happy for the decision I made for my body :) 1. Always use medical graded silicone cup because silicone does not let bacteria to colonise on it. 2. Sterilise the cup in a cup/container of hot water and not in boiling hot water. In case the user forgets to cup on the burning stove then there is a possibility of burning the cup if the water in the vessel evaporates. 3. A menstrual cup should be inserted only during periods. During periods, there is enough natural lubrication which helps the cup to easily slide inside the vaginal canal. 4. Using the cup during non-periods days can cause pulling of and irritation to vaginal muscles. 5. If you need extra help, then apply lubricant on the labia and not on the cup. Applying lubricant on the cup will make it difficult for the user to hold the cup tightly during insertion. 6. Cup sits right below the cervix which is a minute opening in a woman's body. Hence, there is no possibility for the cup to slide further inside the body. 7. One should not be stressed/nervous during inserting or removing the cup. Stress causes swelling of muscles (in this case, vaginal muscles) and hence women complain of excruciating pain while attempting to insert or remove cup. 8. Do not use any kind of intimate wash to clean the vagina because vagina cleans itself. 9. Avoid using soaps or liquids soaps to clean the cup. In case the user does not clean the cup thoroughly and if there are soap particles left on the cup, these particle can cause imbalance in the pH level and can even lead to infection inside the vagina. 10. The user should ensure that the hand being used to insert or remove the cup is well cleaned and does not have finger nails. 11. Rinsing the cup under running tap or sterilising the cup in hot water is the best practice to ensure hygiene. 12. The length between the vaginal opening to the cervix and the quantity of menstrual fluid ones body eliminate are the factors that decides the size of the cup. 13. Menstrual cup can be used by women who are sexually active as well as inactive. 14. Girls/women/ladies using menstrual cup will not lose virginity. However, cup does rupture the hymen. 15. There are various other ways to pinch the cup. The logic here is to pinch the cup to make it as compact as possible to ensure easy insertion. 16. If the user does not feel the cup inside their body means that the cup is in the right position, at the right place and have opened up. 17. Always ensure to buy a menstrual cup which has minutes holes around it. These holes act like a signal. When the cup is filled to the rim, the hole will push out 1 dot of blood sending a signal that it is time to empty the cup. 18. The cup will not come out irrespective of the active a woman indulges in, until an unless the women uses her finger to pull the cup out of her vagina. 19. Disposable Sanitary Napkins (DSNs) and Tampons are loaded with chemicals and perfume which can lead to irritation, UTI, various infections, rupturing of vaginal tissues, abnormal darkening of vaginal area, etc. Hence, these are hazardous menstrual products.

Peice of advice for newbies sometimes cup doesn’t get open while inserting so just remove it and insert it again until it feel like it’s created vaccum inside.. 1. If it comes out easily that means it’s not inserted properly. 2. If it stays there and require more effort to take out then it perfectly places.. 👍🏻 It can be uncomfortable in starting but yeah you need some time to know how it works for your body . Once you get used to it I’m sure you won’t go back to pads and tampons 😃 Ps: if you are not sure in starting days while using cups use pad along with it for in case if you are not sure about cup is placed properly or not..

Menstruration -a normal biological function. I see girls feeling embarrassed, even judging others who feel free to talk about it. I understand that our society teaches us not to talk about our bodies. As a woman how dare she talk about her body, her health and her needs? Your body is a taboo - even for you. But when men talk about your body, leech at you, try to misbehave, while you walk down the street, that's well - just how men are! Isn't it time things changed? that we started taking some power back into our own hands? will being shy really help our cause as women? how will our gender ever get empowered? I am not saying go all out and make a BIG deal about it. if you are having your periods, of course its personal. you don;t have to announce. But you should be able to talk about it when needed. And if you feel uncomfortable asking your mother or sister for guidance, it may take a long long time to change. Which is okay. Understandable even. That's how most of us grow up. Things don't change just like that after all. But this is social media. It doesn't get easier than this platform to ask questions and share information. No matter how embarrassing it is for you, it's your body. Hei Prachi! I've been using this for say about 3-4 cycles now and all i hav to say is that why do tgese miracles take soo much time to reach our country!!!! It's soo damn comfy that your periods doesn't bind u anymore. You can go swimming.. u sleep well n what not. Yes i do get some leakage on the 1st 2 days but that's fine for me. But I'm noticing something from past 2 cycles that's worrying me a little. Plz make a note n do chk yourself as well. My periods r always bang on time but from past 2 cycles they r getting delayed. And I'm feeling some very slight sensation before getting it. I've thought of saying Hello to my ObGYN once. Plz use n see if it makes any difference what so ever. And yes chsnge it every 6-8 hrs as it doesn't last 24 hrs for first 3 days 😃

Akanksha Srivastava it doesn't feel awkward as the path is completely different. Only problem you face is that as the thing is inside your bladder gets a little pushed hence unable to store as much urine as it shud. So you feel like peeing more often. Also after y pee give 2 - 3 seconds. You might have a second round of urine as well. Speaking from personal experience

I watched this video for the first time right after you uploaded it, that is 2 years ago. And after watching this, I decided to purchase the cup. If you're reading this, let me tell you the struggle to insert the cup inside has been insane until today. Earlier I never managed it, everytime I tried I had a mental breakdown in the washroom itself. I ended up thinking that something is wrong with me, why is my vagina so small? These questions took the better of me and I decided to give up and continue with the mess of using sanitary napkins. I dreaded periods, even though we all eventually become comfortable when we're bleeding out but the idea of going through the cycle is enough to mess you emotionally. Well, having said that, today after two long years I decided to give it a try AGAIN. It took me an hour extra in washroom, trying different positions and folds while constantly bearing the muscle pain BUT in the end I DID IT!! For the first time ever, I managed to put menstrual cup inside. It made me feel so happy and nothing- I felt nothing down there. But, then I realised my cup didn't unfold, I succeeded in removing it gently and re-inserting it, again it just didn't unfold and eventually came out. This whole process was very taxing and my vaginal muscles became quite stiff, so I switched to the napkin again. Nevertheless, today I celebrate the small victory of successfully inserting it after two long years! Even this much progress is enough for today and tomorrow I will try again, will keep trying until I succeed because in the end you not only feel worth it but also feel satisfied for being able to make your contribution in making the planet one-pad less, atleast! To all the girls reading this, if I can do this and not give up even after years then so can you. We're in this together :)

One point you didn’t mention in the video is that you can keep the menstrual cup inside for 10-12 hours, unlike pads and tampons which have to be changed every 4-6 hours.

Ishika Chakraborty yes. Even though it may seem like it, you don’t lose a lot of blood on your period. So that cup can hold it, even if you have a heavy flow. If you’re a first time user of the menstrual cup, it will be slightly harder to get it in. You can either squat, or you can keep either one of your legs on the toilet seat. You will quickly find what position works best for you. There is a somewhat steep learning curve for this and it will take roughly two cycles for you to get the hang of it. But once you do, it’ll be very comfortable for you. Also, the cup can never get stuck inside of you. It will always be able to come out, so don’t be scared. If you’re scared, that causes your vaginal muscles to contract, which makes the cup harder to remove or insert. There a lot of ways in which you can fold the cup to make it easier to insert. She showed some of them in the video. Also, the cup that she used in the video came in 2 sizes only. But there are other brands which have more than two sizes to ensure maximum utility and comfort. There are different widths and lengths and you can choose from depending upon your personal requirements. Mainly, if you’re a woman who has had a vaginal birth and/or you’re above 30 years of age, you may opt for the larger sizes available. If you have never given birth vaginally, and if you’re under 30 years of age, you can opt for the smaller sizes. But finally, You will know which one is right for you only by trial and error and it all depends upon person to person. There are also cups which come with its own cleaning solution used to clean the cup after you remove it. The cup is made of 100% medical grade silicone which does not not cause any problem to your intimate areas. The cup has also proven to reduce menstrual cramps. You can do your own research on the types of menstrual cups available in the market.

I have seen so many videos on this topic. But trust me no one explained the way you did.... It’s just amazing how you shared your personal experience Prachi.... I am on my periods right now and i stay in Dubai. The heat here in summer just kills you. When on periods the Pad along with the heat and sweat gives a bad rash 😓. Which takes few days to go and it’s horrible. I was little worried about using the cup, because the videos that I watched previously were not so convincing. But after watching your video today, i decided that i am definitely going to buy it and use it next month. I have been using the M cup since 2months, and I also want to support Prachi about all the experiences she have shared, yes there might be time when u'll feel that the cup get lost somewhere but trust me it won't, it's designed to stay in a vacuum condition. The M cup is super convenient, super eco-friendly and I would suggest to all girls to try M cup once and I'm sure u all gonna love this, and never want to return to ur old methods of sanitary options. Just one thing keep in mind about the Size of the cup, different manufacturers would suggest different sizes according to age and all those stuff, read carefully and dn select the appropriate size for u. That's all I wanna say, and plz girls save our environment and plz start using M cup.

ankita chandel see First of all you should have appropriate size of cup....as i got small sized one from sirona now secondly and most importantly...i was very excited and did few dummy trials of it with full faith...it was not easy at first but all you need is focus and being fearless...if vagina can manage to push out a baby then why not a soft cup...and when you will succeed you will think and all of the effort was worth it👍

to know if it is put correct you have to move your finger slightly around the cup (while inside)and it should be in proper shape (should not feel deflated).and be very careful while pulling it....don't just pull the tip but take finger slightly upward and pinch the u shaped portion. as i used to pull it whole in sigle shot....don't do it,it's very easy just pinch it to pull it from one side and easily it will be pulled out with any suction
