my Uncle who passed away had a farm in Tennessee and my Aunt still has his red and black 1961 5 ton Chevy that they bought new..All it has ever done was go back and fourth in town for feed and gravel.About 25 years ago I drove it into town for fertilizer. She just sits in a garage now.I wished I had a place for her she's still beautiful.. Loved your video and Bull Frog's my favorite too

Might be a good idea to weld up the cracks in that dump bed and then add that extra steel siding for added strength. Could always be done at a later time seeing as time is of the essence. Thanks for taking time out to keep us updated.

+Kelly Hansen I totally agree with you on that. The repair I made to Bullfrog's bed was just intended to be a temporary fix so we can get our roads in. Seems to be holding up fine so far and we have actually already hauled about 10- loads of rock from the quarry to the property. Thanks Fer Watchin, -Rick

Progress. Always progress and that's what it takes. You'll get there. Liked seeing the new place and the road building. You brought back memories. I Drove a 59 International dump truck and went to quarries to load sand and stone for concrete companies. I hauled sand out of Dallenbach's which is now closed and stone out of Kingston Trap Rock which is now called Trap Rock. Thanks for the memories and keep up the good work.

Sometimes I reply to 60 or 70 messages a day between my email, the Classic Truck Rescue KZbin Channel and the Classsic Truck Rescue Facebook Page, but I do value the comments, tips and support that my viewers offer. I am pretty certain that the advice and tips I've received from my viewers have saved me more time than I invest into responding. Beyond that, it is the positive comments and encouragement I receive from people who take the time to watch my videos that motivates me to succeed and follow through on what I say I am going to do. I have no choice but to do the work I need to do because I feel like there are people counting on me....if that makes sense. Thanks Fer Watchin' -Rick

Rick... love your videos and all that your doing, and I think it's great that you have a "mate" that is totally into the same things as yourself.... sure makes life "easier" when you both share the same interests and goals, together. Good loader operator on that 966 Cat..... nice and gentle on your truck while loading it.... "trickling" the material into it, instead of just dumping the whole thing in at once.... like many, do..... perhaps he respects and appreciates "older" trucks and their limitations... (???). Looks "like" your using "road base" for your road..... great material to use... packs nice and tight, especially with the rain you have out there. I noticed you have at least one (passenger side, couldn't tell if you have both chains or not) "spreader chain" on your tailgate..... for the material your spreading, I would have tightened up a little more, and given the chain less slack than you had there, so that it would have spread thinner & further. Your forward speed seemed ok.... just needed the gate to open a little less, considering the material your using. I left a comment yesterday, in regards to your video of the 1951, 900 series with the 6-71 "jimmy" under the hood, that you bought.... then sold to some lucky fellow from CA. You should be "flogged with a wet noodle" for That !! lol

Its fun to live your dreams when you share life with someone who has the same dreams and is motivated to work towards making them come true with hard work and determination. We finally have kind of learned the best settings for the tailgate chains while spreading the gravel. Its like anything else, practice makes perfect. It really has been amazing how much good advice I have received from my viewers. I've never done a lot of the things I am having to learn how to do right now. Its like I get to tap into a 4,000+ person-strong experience base and between four or five people on any subject, I get all the information I need to do it correctly. +Greg Tice Having Jamie make runs to the Rock Quarry while I spread the gravel was the plan, but Her horse (Jet) mowed her down pretty hard and Bullfrog requires some serious strength to steer when he's loaded. I don't want to take a chance on her being hurt even worse right now, so I hired "Farmer John" To drive Bullfrog while I clear brush and spread gravel. Jamie's time is safer spent sitting down at the county offices getting our permits. She may make some quarry runs in a couple weeks if she's feeling better. Thanks Again Fer Watchin' Greg. -Rick

Great vid, Jamie is a peach for sure. I don't know what Bull Frog is rated to handle (though I saw 26,000 on the side of his bed) but when you loaded him did you only have one loader bucket in him? I don't know what condition his hydraulics are in obviously but sure seems to me he'd handle two buckets full no trouble and probably a third. I don't know, might not be worth the risk I guess, in case he can't handle it. He sure seems to be under loaded compared to the loads I've seen the 10 wheelers I have seen filled with gravel; some had gravel up close to their side boards (like the ones you put on).
@ClassicTruckRescue
@ClassicTruckRescue 9 жыл бұрын
+MISTERComaToes I think the guys at the rock quarry were a bit concerned when we first rolled up in Bullfrog. I also felt like the old guy could handle more rock. I did notice as we kept rolling back in there they started putting more and more rock on. We have hauled in 30 loads now. I think you will see him running with some pretty large loads in the next couple videos. Thanks Again Fer Watchin' -Rick

Rick just been going through all the CTR vids again, I love them, anyway on this one when you mention your theory on why people put the side wood boards on to protect the body from the loaders causing damage, well yes this is true it's one reason but maybe not the real reason, here in the UK we call them "Greedy Boards" so named because you can get that little bit extra load on board without it spilling over the side's, which you know will come in real handy for your new road building. One last thing I now understand why Jamie say's it her truck and you can have a lone of it now and again LOL, after all you asked her to go get it with big Steve, so in her mind it's her truck and it's a case of what's yours is mine and what's mine is my own (double LOL). Show Jamie the last bit to see if she agrees with my theory on her mindset, she truly is a "Truck Chick" by the way. Regards Barry

I am looking forward to see the road in the making and I like your solution for the holes in the container of your truck, are you the only one who is going to get the gravel from the quarry or is your wife getting to ride the dump truck to? and how far do you need to drive to pick up the gravel? because i think you need to get a lot of loads to lay down the roads. And did you fill up the dump truck to the top? greetings from the netherlands
@ClassicTruckRescue
@ClassicTruckRescue 9 жыл бұрын
+Mike Weetikveel You are correct. We will be needing tons (literally) of gravel. Fortunately, they just reopened and old rock quarry that is under 5-miles from our new property. Yes, Jamie will be making runs to the gravel pit by herself in the Bullfrog. She really does drive that old truck like a pro. I just don't want her doing it right now because her ribs need to heal up from her close-encounter with her horse. We did not fill the dump truck completely up on the first load. I wanted to see how it did. We have now hauled about 10 loads and are having it filled completely to the top now. Its doing a fine job. Thanks Fer Watchin, -Rick

@ClassicTruckRescue
@ClassicTruckRescue 9 жыл бұрын
+bart bossink our goal is to own our own piece of property which we can build to suit our needs. I have been putting together a collection of 1955-1959 Chevy and GMC work trucks for the past six-years and it is a hobby that requires space. We will be farming our land while I pursue my hobby and continue to offer support to fellow enthusiasts. We would like to have a small, private campground on the property to share with family and friends.. It is also important to us that we eventually be self-sufficient incase the need should arise for us to be able to fend for ourselves. Hope that makes sense and thanks Fer Watchin' -Rick

Classic Truck Rescue They will look beautiful when they are fixed. It's also nice to see them both at work. Trucks like the bullfrog are very rare, and even more rare to see them at work. I noticed the quarry is a little unprepared for the trucks size, as the front end loader's bucket was too long and spilled gravel near the dump gate.

Jesse, we had no experience building roads when we first started out. This is an old video. Since then, we have learned to put down underlayment first, then pit-rock, then 3-inch minus and finally the 3/4 minus. We have brought in over 240 loads of rock and our roads are as hard a concrete with no mushy spots, even when it rains for a month straight. Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick

+shoominati23 That girl (Jamie) did find a new job. She is now working for Classic Truck Rescue and her services are valued and appreciated. Her days of shoveling chicken poo are over. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us, but in the end, there will be no landlord telling us what to do on our dirt. Thanks Fer Watchin, -Rick
