Thank you so much for this video! Past papers are SUPER useful as you get to see what the questions might be like in the real thing and using the mark scheme you can see how to word your answers in a way that will get you more marks. They are also useful for seeing what bits of a topic you are uncertain of ( like where your making mistakes) so you can go and revise that to improve. I used past papers and exam questions quite a lot at the end of last year when I had end of year tests which was so helpful and I will be using them ALL the time this year so I’m more confident with writing answers under time pressure and to get me prepared for the gcse mocks and the real things! Another amazing video thumbs up and thank you! 😄🤗👍🏻

im just never sure if im done with my revision and revising the whole book for like 4 subs (IAL) takes like weeks or maybe months. My general idea was always to get done with writing notes for each chapter, revision,reading,checkpoints etc and then do past papers but time seems so less to do this all. Maybe my strategy is wrong the whole time ☹️ Realising tht makes me feel like i wasted my all year! 😪 I have a question at the back of my head; what do u think how many past papers are needed to be done to be confident enough solving an exam (considering starting past papers near exams) i know this all depends upon the student and how much knowledge the student has but assuming all tht average, how many would be enough?

I feel the same way, I usually spend so much time diving in deep and getting prepared but I guess the fact that we now know this is better them not knowing at all

I just started grade 10, and i am super confused on which year (2017, 18, 19?) past papers should I start. People everyday tell me to start practicing past papers, and I really feel worried about that. I have not completed the whole IG course yet, but I don't understand from which past papers should I start with, any advice?

it doesn't really matter but i would start with the oldest and work your way up to the newest. if they change their exam style / format past a certain year, you want to be practicing that closer to your exams.

Hey there bro, what year is the best year to be using past papers. Starting from Y10 ,or starting from Y11?
@Top5Education
@Top5Education 4 жыл бұрын
Great question and I think you should be getting yourself used to gcse level exams as soon as possible! But don’t exhaust all your past papers - some subjects you’ll have limited papers so save some for a month or so before the exam so you can give yourself a mock exam.

Hello, I am currently a year 11 student, because of some family stuff I missed out in 2 years of school, and I've studied in an American school before, it's a bit overwhelming for me right now since the igcse exam is around the corner and I'm lacking in too much for me to even answer past papers, I don't know how to even study or start, and until now almost failed every test I've had this year because of how much I'm lacking from topics in the first place, the teachers all tell me to study from past papers, but I can't do that if I don't even know the topics in it, is there anything I can do to improve?

Hi, i know im quite late to this comment but I seriously relate to what you are going through. I have to admit that i didn't study in an amarican school but I did have to take 2 years out of school myself and coming back was in the middle of exams and it was very stressful. My number one tip is not to worry about the past papers for now. When you are in lessons, if there are any topics you feel you know less, ask the teacher what chapter it is in so that you can either study it yourself (which is what I did for most of my science and english) or ask them to help you with it outside of lesson if you can. I wish you so much luck and I hope that your exams go well ❤
