This fantastic portrait, submitted by KTE member Anthony Knight in response to our ‘rim lighting’ challenge, was already in pretty good shape when it arrived. bit.ly/karl-ta...
But I still couldn’t resist making some subtle tweaks in Photoshop - using the liquify tool in particular. When you see the before and after, you’ll be amazed how a little bit of retouching can make an awesome image even better.

Editing people and models for more than 15 years this is always a tricky job and could easily be overdone. Liquify is a powerful tool but it comes with great responsibilities towards the human body, fabrics and skin texture. In this edit I totally justify the changes that you made and in the little time given for this video you did a good job (it 's to teach people to look what can be improved and offer them the tool for it). Lovely shot though, well done Photographer. Thanks for sharing !

Really fantastic tip, this is subtle yet it makes a huge difference between the original photo and the liquified one .

Karl, you may receive congrats very often and I can't stress enough that thanks to your videos and tutorials I have learned a lot about light. I am not sure if I'll ever take a camera and start taking shots but I assure you I am putting all the knowledge you share to create my first theatre play. Thanks a lot!!!

Quite blown away. That’s some Gordon Ramsey level reworking! was quite sceptical about this one… walked away pleasantly surprised. The liquify tool has always been the software equivalent of using an IKEA wrench - in every way one could possibly imagine. Was truly not expecting to see such a striking difference; particularly how you made that shoulder bump not seem out of place.

Great work as always 👍 I always have this feeling like what you can do on this image, and then you see the actions and you're like, aha, yeah, these things 😁 I guess the more you practice the more ideas you have

I think with shoulders and arms you were just spot on, Karl. Otherwise it looked pretty much like she was apprehended and put into handcuffs for looking too good to onlookers.

Helpful material. Clarification: it's on only the very basics of Liquify, demonstrated but not _explained_, and the 2nd half is on selectively lifting shadows, good to see but not at all in the title, and a distinctly unrelated concept.
