Tone! Do research. There are those that totally wipe out brass. Ion also makes a brass booster blue pigment you can add to a toner, and it is so potent you probably only need 2-3 drops.

I did this today after work. I have middle blond hair. I used a box dye to get it "very ashblond". Well the box dye didn't turn out light ashblond. More light golden blond HOWEVER the balayage is PERFECT. Just perfect perfect perfect. I don't even mind that the colour is not what I wanted. It looks so incredibly natural. I have never done my hair at home but have gotten really nice ombre balayage in the past and this looks just as good. I have very fine low density hair, so with this method I only needed half of a box dye (hair 5cm longer than on my profile pic). So I later did a "second round" where I placed some specific highlights to give it even more dimension. I never comment on KZbin videos, but this just turned out a lot better than expected. I think people should know it didn't only work on you.

Alrighty sweets! I was a cheap ass and didn’t get multiple levels of developer. I just got 30 and washed out the back before I washed out the front. It was awkward standing naked in the shower for fifteen extra minutes, but I made the best of it. Your way of doing Balayage is awesome!! You’d get a kick out of what I did. I didn’t want to foil and I wasn’t looking for super blonde.. so I just dipped my ponytails into the bleach mixture. I have a lot of hair too. What ended up happening was amazing. I had my natural color come through with the blonde and it looked like I had feathered the bleach instead of just dipping. Thanks for sharing!!!!

So, I've never tried to bleach my hair before. Your method worked really well for me even though I don't have much experience doing this kind of thing with my hair. I started with the front parts to give my hair a more face-framing look, being careful to avoid my roots until the very end. I pulled some sections closer to the root to meld the color together, and it turned out pretty good! Your positivity also helped a lot because I was so nervous to even try this. Thank you for sharing!!!

Trang Nguyen the cool blonde just helps to get rid of yellow undertones. With your black hair you won't get light enough the first or maybe even the second time to use it. Most likely you'll pull a red or orange color. Which means you need to use a blue/ash toner to counteract the warmth.

Love this! I have curly blonde hair, so did rose gold (joico temp rose color) and lightened (10vol, bleach, and conditiiner combo) around my face. I’m excited with how this turned out! Thanks for your awesome instructions! (Also the pets are cool)

Great video - great Balayage Short Cut with the Pony Tails! I haven't tried this yet, but really love the concept. I actually liked the yellow blonde on you, before you used the toner. The color that you want to shoot for is "honey blonde" because it is really flattering with a lot of warmer skin tones. Sometimes people take their hair too platinum, which is very aging... and makes your skin tone sometimes look too pink or white. People need to know if they are warm or cool. If a warm skin tone wears their hair too platinum - this can really age them. I like the shade you have, it works for you - but a lot of people are much warmer skin tone and can't wear their hair this platinum, without it looking too harsh and aging.

If you tease the area you put your foils in that helps with lines.

What if I don't want it as close to my roots? So I want it a bit darker blended out to lighter... If that makes sense lol... Should I make the ponytail sections bigger? (I'm starting with dark brown hair to begin with)

What is you have bangs and shorter hair? I feel like if I did this half of my hair would be brown. Should I just make smaller sections?

If you can't get access to a toner could I just use purple shampoo? Or does it definitely need to be stronger.

Thank you so much! I had a Caramel balayage because my own hair is black. And it takes a while to make it lighter. And i didn't want to spend more money to get somebody else doing it. And i didnt no how to do it and dont messed up. So you are the best!
