Using QGIS to Extract information from a polygon shape to point data

How to transfer attribute data from an ESRI shape file point data using QGIS intersection. I will be using Alberta Health Polygons from Open Data and adding information to a file of organizations within Calgary with location data. The transferred attributes will be used to join other information later.
