Do you set up the databases first, then relate them? I sometimes don't know what I need until I start creating inside of Notion. But that doesn't always work. I think I need to plan the databases needed first, then work them. If that makes sense!

Hey Beth, thanks for watching. Good news! Notion is super flexible. I have found that I'll create a database for a specific purpose and then later decide that I want another database that relates to it, and all that's OK. You'd create the second database and then add a column in the first to relate it. It IS always better if you have a map of what you're wanting to build (and I have a video called "Organizing Notion to Work for You") but Notion works great iteratively as well. Or, in my case, both ways!

For someone who knows relation databases this explanation is confusing. What are equivalents of unique keys, foreign keys, attributes, etc. Is there a logic in relationships or u just relate everything chaotically they way u see fit.

However, I understand that in the world of "relational databases" there is much more...and probably more than I am even aware of since I am not a relational database expert.
