Persistent partition type is literally how a drive is partitioned. So basically you have a choice of choosing between MBR or GPT when installing on that drive.

Nope. If you are using a USB, it will not effect anything on your personal machine. Make sure when you do use a USB, make sure you don’t have any files saved to it.

That could be dependent on how you extracted the file and where from.

a year late but i hope this helps. get a kali-linux iso and create a bootable with rufus or something like that. then you'll spend a bit of time figuring out your bios settings to see that things work (normal to spend a while) but in the end you should have made the migration, hope this helps.
