Never heard of these. Im in South Africa. Have a strong borehole that has sand and destroys the pump. Im going to look into this. What do you suggest if the sand comes from the top, above the pump?

For submersible pumps: we recommend a enclosure (cover) on pump inlet to force water through the Separator. See this link: www.lakos.com/product/pps-shell-kit/

@LakosFiltration Thanks for your fast response. That makes perfect sense. Only problem I see is that my borehole is 150mm(6inches) and the pump/ motor is 100mm. Will this be sufficient space, keeping in mind water flow between motor and cover? Next question is what will the cost be? The hole is 127m deep but the pump is at 60m . It has a 5kw motor and delivers approx 25000 L per hour. The water usually overflows when the pump is off. Alternatively do you know of any high volume low pressure pumps that are able to tolerate sand ?

@LakosFiltration was also thinking of getting the hole reamed to a larger size. Will that help sl9w the flow down so to not pick up as much sand?

@@johnwagenhauser9835 We recommend you consult your pump vendor for pump options. There are several requirements (well depth, head pressure, wall space etc.) for a LAKOS Centrifugal PPS product to work - we have a product selector at www.lakosgroundwater.com that will cover minimum requirements.

@@johnwagenhauser9835 Not sure if that will help. Good question for your well driller.
