Great series for beginners! I think you know this and its only a little mistake, but SNMP stands for Simple Network Management Protocol*

Very attentive :) That one slipped through, pardon for that and thanks for the correction!

Fantastic! How would i add temperature to the sensors? I am missing them when adding Juniper firewalls. Thanks!
@checkmk-channel3 жыл бұрын
Hi Massiva, Checkmk collects for most Juniper devices also the temperature values as can be seen in our check plug-ins catalogue: checkmk.com/integrations?tags=juniper It might be that for your specific device, the information is not available. First check, if this information is at all available by checking the MIB of the device. If it is available, then you can try modifying the respective check plug-in. For further help, best reach out to the Checkmk community on forum.checkmk.com

Is the user password on the CHECK_MK system stored in encrypted form in the SNMPv3 connection profiles?
@checkmk-channel2 жыл бұрын
Nope. Keep in mind that even if it would be stored encrypted on the Checkmk server, at some point it is readable in memory and the encryption key has to be on that server as well.

hey CMK youtube pal(s), novice question here but I am trying to use network discovery to scan a subnet and despite nmap finding ~60 hosts, the checkmk IP range scan (which has been running, not an issue of executing) keeps finding 0 hosts. do I need SNMP preconfigured for anything I want to discover? should I just stick to my guns and use nmap then install the agent for each host (by OS) using ansible or something? open to advice here

Hi, The built-in network scan is a nice but small tool. For more sophisticated network scans (e.g. scanning ports) you can script something, using nmap for scanning, ansible for deploying agents, and the REST-API for adding hosts to Checkmk. Checkmk only does pinging, We are guessing your nmap scan did more. When hosts are already configured in Checkmk, the range scan does not add them. Hope this helps you, for further questions we highly recommend using our Checkmk forum (forum.checkmk.com), where our community can help you more quickly :)

Is there any other way to add a domain as a host rather than putting a specific IP address? Please help
@checkmk-channel2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Checkmk can do DNS resolution. Just enter it in the host name and don't specify an IP address.

Hello how to add ping check to snmp device, because by default there is no ping service when we add snmp device to checkmk
@checkmk-channel Жыл бұрын
Hey Andi, There is an active Check called "Check hosts with PING (ICMP Echo Request)". You can use that for this case.

He made the same mistake as Matthias Kettner 3 years ago... god.😂 Its "Simple Network Management Protocol" nothing to do with "Monitoring"!!!!
