Aaaaand now im going to be looking up everything on this chemical so i can use it. Wow!

So you simply used a water hose with a misting spray nozzle instead of pressure washer. And used pump up sprayer to apply chemicals?

Not exactly. There’s a process and it’s quite detailed. Check out the “wizard of wood” here on KZbin and you’ll see some of the techniques, tips and tricks for proper wood restoration. Craig Harrison with front nine restoration also has videos where he’s lifting stains using a brush and a garden hose to reactivate the salts. A pressure cleaning machine is not always needed to perform exterior cleaning and restoration. The supply hose that I was using was to keep the boards wet And to do the final rinsing. My Solutions came out of a bucket and a deck brush was used to agitate the surface, allowing the metasilicate to do its job. To neutralize the pH and brighten the wood oxalic acid was used via pump up sprayer. I hope this helps, take care and have a great day!

Hi, the boards look brand new you did an excellent job. What brand of sodium metasilicate and oxalic acid did you use and ratios applied? Thank you!

Hi, I get the Oxalic Acid from Florida Laboratories and the Metasilicate can be found on Amazon. You’ll use 8 oz (1 cup) per gallon of metasilicate & 16 oz of wood brightener/ ph neutralizer (oxalic acid) I keep the boards wet, use a deck brush and apply from a 5 gallon bucket. After a 10 minute dwell time and plenty of rinsing I then apply oxalic via pump up sprayer and leave it. No sanding, no pressure machine but you do need a garden sprayer with multiple settings to clean, rinse and mist while doing the process. Remind yourself to trust the process because unlike SH you can’t see immediate results and that can be scary after putting in all that scrubbing but if done correctly the results are phenomenal 👍 Everett Abrams Wizard of Wood can guide you in this process, he’s on KZbin. Have a great night and best of luck out there!

Thank you and keep up the excellent work you post on KZbin. I have a 25 year old clear cedar deck that I power washed using sodium percarbonate and oxalic acid, sanded 80/100 grit, and stained with Sikkens. Lots of work, but satisfying when all is done. Next time, I will used your recommended process. Best regards.

how much oxalic per gal and how much metacillicate per gal?
@t-n-tpressurecleaning77812 ай бұрын
Depends on the job. May need it hotter, may need it weaker based upon the surface and amount of organic matter. As a general rule you’d mix 16oz of oxalic into 1 gallon of warm water. Metasilicate is 8oz per 1 gallon of warm water. Hope this helps 👍
