I have to agree with Dave... My fan inverted v is made from speaker wire .. I do run a choke of about 18 or so ft. of coax .. 3 bands 80, 40, and 20

I have an inside antenna I made from speaker wire. It runs all around the top of the room where the wall meets the ceiling and is connected to an Icom 7300. It works incredibly well and I get strong signals from Hams and broadcast stations all around the world. Of course, it's receive only no transmit.

I have used wire, but put it on a wall as a vertical loop and I've transmitted and worked countries all over the world on ten meter.

A 30-foot role of speaker wire, is 60 ft of antenna wire.

So how many watts would speaker wire handle?

Doesn't wire thickness contribute at all to the signal? I never see people discuss proper wire thickness. Seems like people just use whatever they have lying around, and it works. But i kinda suspect some 0.2mm motor wire won't.

I new and lacking in understanding regarding a lot of the technical side. I, too, would love to know the answer (or at least hear people's opinions) on this. Also, presuming thicker is better, is there a point where the wire can be too thick?

My biggest concern about using speaker wire is if it will hold itself up under its own weight, or break, or stretch an excessive amount.

I built a 40m inverted V, fed into 1:1 balun and is holding up well

What I've noticed in my experimentation is that the velocity factor of speaker wire is quite low, around 0.7.

Yep, for RX wire is wire😊

Magnet wire, aluminum downspout, they're the same thing just different diameter.
