Thanks. You'd think that more stats teachers would actually know how to teach stats so students don't feel lost. Alas, we live in a very different world, which is why I make these videos. It's costing you enough money that I think you should understand your course material. :)

This so wonderful. I am having B and A in my home work and tests because of you Professor. I used to think this reviews were fake. Thank you so much. I dropped this course 3 years ago, but because of you I am proud to say I am graduating this semester. This was the course that held me back. God bless you. You have not only given me HOPE, but made me like statistics. Now I will be able to direct other struggling with stats to find help at Aspire Mountain Academy.

Prof. Curtis, you need to reach out to my school and collect the portion of my profs paycheck that she got from my inclusivity in her class. Ive learned more from you in the past few weeks than her all semester. I wish I found your channel sooner. Youve saved my life, now lets hop i can remember this stuff on the final. Bout to make my cheat sheet. Thanks again.

I love your videos. All I needed was to be able to watch someone do these problems over and over again. I need to see it and honestly my instructor just goes too fast. I wish I knew about these videos at the beginning of the semester.

does anyone know how to find the critical value ?
@AspireMtnAcademy
@AspireMtnAcademy 3 жыл бұрын
Your instructor should have explained that to you earlier in the course, but in case that didn't happen, here's your 411. The significance level is an area under your distribution curve that is bounded by the critical value. Here you have a one-tailed test on the left (look at the inequality sign in your alternative hypothesis; it's like an arrow pointing on the side where your one tail is), and so the critical value is the value on the right side of that area in the left tail of the distribution. The size of that area is the significance level. Here is this problem, you weren't provided with a significance level (as you usually are), so I recommend you do one of two things. You can ask your instructor to know what the significance level is, or you can make an assumption of what it is and calculate it accordingly. If you assume a value, I suggest 5%, since it is by far and away the most commonly used value across all industries and fields of study. Make sure you use the T-distribution for your calculations. The distribution calculator in StatCrunch makes that really easy to churn out. Hope that helps you!

@@AspireMtnAcademy oh thanks I wasn’t sure about the significance level at first but I was having trouble identifying the alternative equal sign and finding out it was a two tailed . But I think I get it now where we divide the significance level usually given by the problem statcrunch is really helpful
