Hi Roxanne....Thank you so much for sharing this information for us Cricut legacy machine users/owners. So I ran across a problem in trying to follow all directions above....my Expression has been updated to the recommended firmware, I have downloaded my SCAL 5, but when I I tried the link you provide to get Libcutter for windows to the free download it's taking me to a page that is saying to purchase Libcutter and no free download. Am I missing something? Is there another way to get to the free download? Thanking you in advance for any help or direction you can provide me.

Yes there was a problem with the link, I dont know if you still need it, or if you have joined my Cricut expression group and got it from there, but for future users who see this message, the link has been corrected. should this happen again though, please join the group and source the file from there. I tend to forget to change it on here :) 1/20/2022

It is 2/29/24. Is it still possible to purchase SCAL 6. I’m not sure where I can purchase that version. My expression is already at the version required but I can’t find a program to download. Thank you. Also would this be able to work for the cricut imagine?

I have the link in the description, yes it’s still possible, this is the latest version. As for the imagine , i’m sorry scal will not work with that model , there are no programs for it.

The problem now is h.keys is not installing via libcutter. If someone is able to upload their copy of h.keys that would be great...

Cuts weren't smooth but somewhat jagged and files were cut wonky. Updated key file and it's better, however, blade misses areas it didn't miss with the other key file. Using SCAL 5 Cricut Cake (Expression) firmware v2.35. Do I need to revert to firmware v2.34?

Yes, it won't, work with v2.35, you will definitely need to revert back to v2.34 following my part 2 tutorial, the link for that in the description.

Hi Tony , yes this is an ongoing problem with this link , I have the correct stable link on the Facebook group CRICUT EXPRESSION, I will maybe have to delete the link on here as it’s unstable due to how the file is kept.

I have updated the link for you. Its not misleading at the time I made tutorial, the thing that is the trouble here is where the file is kept by the developer, if he doesnt pay his rent the link dissappears, and then its regenerated again which makes it change, in future though , if this happens to anyone who may see this comment and its reply, please join the crixut expression group for more updated files and information for your legacy machines. NO, you can still design in scal5, but you can't cut directly with the Explore Air 2 or Maker, or any explore family range...sorry!
