I had a smallish problem with my Induro tripod and they sent me a 'Brand New' one free of charge! These folks are amazing, and have made sure that I tell all my photography friends about this great service. Great tripod and excellent service!

When I began to read the title for this video, I thought, "Using Teleconverters with Telephoto . . . "? Gotta be boring. Then I read on and saw "Arthur Morris." Legendary. Beautiful photographs, artfully (intended) described. I learned something useful about every five minutes or so. I hadn't thought about how important it is to calibrate camera, lens, and TC. A big takeaway. Thanks, Artie. I'll view this one again. And again.

I'm very excited to hear that the new version of the Tamron 150-600mm is coming out soon along with two teleconverters, a 1.2x and a 2.0. $15,000 for a Nikon 600mm f4 is just not in this years budget.

Great video, with your advice on how to handhold some of these monster lenses, how to use the tripod, and of course the teleconverter advice. A treat to watch, especially the images you presented. Thanks for sharing your vast experience and your secrets with us.

What is the name for the rig holding the camera on the tripod? Do you have a link for this? Thanks a lot B and H great video!

This lens is mounted to the tripod using a gimbal head. You can find them here on our website: bhpho.to/2FO1o4i

I use 2 Canon bodies 7D & 7D MK II, Just bought the new Tamron 150-600 G2 should I buy the new G2 2X teleconverter, I have heard so many negative & Positive reviews don't know what to believe. Hate to buy it for $ 400 + dollars and it does not work well. Any info on this would help. Thanks for your response.

A 2X teleconverter is not going to AF on the Tamron 150-600 at any focal length with any camera.
@RingWraith668 жыл бұрын
I would love to watch one of these be it with Arthur Morris or some other bird/wildlife photographer out in the field demonstrating.
@MrNYCman5306 жыл бұрын
I think it's all well and good for wildlife providing there is enough sunlight because the teleconverters result in narrower f-stops. Does the 1.4 affect the auto focus or OIS adversely? I shoot mostly handheld and I'm considering the Tamron 100-400mm f4.5-6.3, which isn't too heavy a lens for the length.

If you lose 2 stops of light doesn't your f4 lens become an f8 lens? He said f11

I enjoyed that. Yes those 200-400 are just too expensive compared to the Mkii version of the 100-400mm.

My Sigma 2X converter with my Sigma 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Contemporary officially is only manual focus. However it offers autofocus with slow speed and not very good accuracy.
@RC-nj1by4 жыл бұрын
you may get AF with a 1.4x and your camera
@AgnostosGnostos4 жыл бұрын
R C 1.4X isn't enough for me. In the past I was using a Kenko 3X teleconverter with manual focus and I was very pleased.

What model tripod and the mount?
@BandH8 жыл бұрын
While Arthur does not mention the exact model, he does state that he is using Induro tripod legs. When it comes to choosing a tripod, your height and gear(the heaviest/longest lens you will be using) would be important for picking out the best set of tripod legs for you. As for the head, he mentions he is using the Mongoose M-3.6, which B&H does not carry. However, we do carry Gimbal Heads from many other manufacturers. If you would like some recommendations, you might send us an email. *Christina* AskKZbin@bhphoto.com bhpho.to/2doZBYb bhpho.to/2doZ34M

Unfortunately, the Panasonic DMW-TC20 is not compatible with the Panasonic Leica 100-400mm lens, mainly because of the smaller maximum aperture of that particular lens.

The 100-400L2 is waaaay sharper than the 70-200 2.8 L 2 + 2× TC 3. We have tested this. This was the reason for me to buy the 100-400L2
@MrGflan5 жыл бұрын
Nor Dic yeah, some of his shots look noticeably lacking contrast. Not stellar. I’ve owned the 400mm f 5.6 which works awesome also. Your version zoom is on par with it in terms of sharpness. The extenders do work good depending on the lens setup

Interesting presentation at an authorized dealer - Gitzo is expensive / support is awful - Bags at BH are expensive / here is my cheap fanny pack - '2x Nikon TC is awful, I have friends who use Nikons' - Minolta... Listening to Arthur is similar to being stopped by a fellow bird photographer out in the field. Just being barraged with gear talk.

Whaaat??? A poor Chinese counterfeit better than a Gitzo??? I can't but into that. Lovely images, by the way.
@nordic54906 жыл бұрын
Gitzo is massively over priced rip off compared to a Sachtler video tripod and video head combo, and, there is much more componentry in the Sachtler head.

This is actually only a twenty minute video. If you minus all the, "How to hold your 600 mm lens on the tripod", or, "Does anyone remember that old classic movie"? and talk only specifically about the use of teleconverters on telephoto lenses. One comment said, "He's the best" Let's be clear, he's ONE of the best. Another comment said, "Love his stories and tips" Yes to the tips, no to the mundane, just shoot me in the temple stories. No reason this video should take nearly an hour and a half. to talk best ways to use a Teleconverter on a telephoto lens. Not hatin', just sayin....don't confuse the two.
