I'm a Marshall guy; 45 years now. I use heads almost as old as me, out to twin 1960s, and make an annual pilgrimage to the Woodstock site just to feel 'home again.' All I wanted was a few FX just to have different sounds and when I got the Helix (rack), I was ready to send it back within 30 minutes. Something made me watch this video and now I have an incredible rig. Many thanks to you!!

Richie! I just have to tell you how great your videos are. Straight. To the point. No fluff. No long-winded stories or attempts at bad jokes. Time is precious and I really appreciate how you don't muck around with information that isn't essential to get your points across. Also, just have to give you a HUGE shout out for your ability to communicate clearly and effectively. You've made it so easy to follow and get my head wrapped around what could easily be a confusing subject. I hope you continue to post these incredible Line 6 Helix videos on as regular a basis as you can manage. I haven't seen anyone do it as well as you do it. Great work! And once again... THANKS!

@@AuntAlnico4 no of course not, they are just fan boy comments they wont really buy it everyone knows line 6 digital is not the way to get good tone, these units are just for kids to find thie tone they like and find thier groove / sound, then they sell the line 6 to the next 16 year old kid and go buy some real pedals and a valve amp.

Richie, I agree with the other posts, you are better than the manual. You have helped me set my Helix for the 4 cable method. The cabling was the easy part, it is the Helix that was tricky. Richie, like?? THIS VIDEO IS TOTALLY INCREDIBLY MONSTROUS!!! I was disliking the Helix floor unit because I didn't want to get another so-called 'stomp box'. I know the Helix Line 6 is an awesome processor but having a floor unit, ehh. I had my sights set on the rack unit but after seeing your video, I am freakin' SOLD!!! Every, and I do mean EVERY video I've watched about the Line 6 gave this floor unit absolutely NOTHING to admire because the guitarist claiming to demo this unit were only being SEEN PLAYING and not fully DEMONSTRATING!!! Richie, how in the hell did I miss your video for three-years???? Let me say, my brother, YOU DID IT AND ANSWERED EVERY QUESTION AND CONCERN I HAD ABOUT THIS AMAZING GUITAR PROCESSOR!!! Man. I’ve been sitting here trying to think of what to say about this video. To many words come to mind. Informative, brilliant, amazing. Just when I thought I had it figured out, you come out here and do a wet/dry/wet. I’ve heard of it but, never heard(seen) it. That was bad ass man. Thanks for the video. I might have to watch it again and try to figure out the 4 cable method though. I have a Marshall jcm 2000 tsl 100 and want to use its distortion but also want to be able to use all the effects the Helix has to offer. There is so much more to learn & do as you have stated. I absolutely love the way you did that harmony and put one note on the right & the other note on the left. I watched this with my iPad Pro (has 4 speakers on all corners, respectively) and it sounded astonishing! Thanks again. I got some work to do and apparently a bunch of cables I’ll have to find! PS. My rig actually has a Samson stereo power amp in it and my Marshall cab has a way to put it in stereo mode. So maybe I can’t do wet/dry/wet but, maybe I can do wet/wet. Ha ha! We’ll see!

Great video. Very informative. I think a lot of "bedroom" players don't totally get in to higher end digital because they don't want to go for a studio set up with FRFR, whatever. I understand that it's still an option and it's even "better", but this shows what can be done to even just incorporate everything that the Helix can do in to your current "rig" and beyond. Great job with building up the complexity and clearly explaining how to hook everything up. I will say, one thing you could have added: Using a 2 channel amp and having the footswitch controlled by the Helix instead of reaching over and flipping the channel on the amp. That's picking nits though. Best video I've seen on a "simple" Helix set up.

Hey Richie, love the videos, but there is an easier way to get wet/dry/wet! Create a parallel path 1B, by placing a wet effect in 1A and dragging it down, go to the split point where this path rejoins 1A, hit action and move it down so it has it's own output. Select the output for 1B and toggle down to path 2A, select it, there should be an arrow pointing down, and an x in path 2A, with an arrow pointing ito it. Go to 2A out put and select your outs. I use the XLR out, but you can use any outs that are available. Don't forget to put path1A to 1/4"

Roger Hernandez LMAO. My drummer text me from Louisiana raving about the Helix. I was going to buy a GR55, I am going to check the Helix out first. I really want synthetic sounds. Keyboards, organs, bells and what not. IDK.
@AdmWright7 жыл бұрын
I have a Gr55 @Thelbemuntu I love it! But, I find myself ONLY using it for odd sounds. Orchestral Strings, 12 string, acoustic simulator. When it comes to actual guitar playing...I have a pedal board. I hardly ever use it for distortion. the GR55 also doesn't have anywhere near what this helix has. If you want strings, and detuning (or retuning individual strings)/different instruments on each string...Go for the GR. I'm saving up for a Helix....they are so sick!

TheIbemuntu I love my GR55. I was just saying that I've had it for like 3 years now....I only find myself using it for strings anymore. I like my OCD and mojomojo's distortion way more than the GR. I also like the versatility of the flashback more than the build in delays.

Wow, this is crazy helpful and one of the best explanation videos out there. I am a Helix newbie (probably late to the game) and I was trying to figure out how to add my external effects (10 different pedals) along with the Helix into a single chain. Honestly, the "send and return" was really confusing (I just wanted to shut off the Helix until I wanted it switched on) until I watched this video and realized that the Send and Return can be setup like a regular preset. There are some pedals that just cannot be replicated with the Helix so this video was extremely helpful!

Brilliant and essential watching for new and future Helix owners/buyers!!! I was on the fence about Helix, but after digesting ALL Ritchie's Helix videos, I pulled the trigger. This is exactly what I want/need for my home studio and after buying the AX8 and still "fiddling" with it, I feel that the HELIX has a better user interface PERIOD! But, without watching all Ritchie's videos and getting the real "Dirt" on Helix I would've walked right past it, as Line6 and their demos just didn't do it for me... Richie, you should be on their payroll. I feel you've made more sense of this unit than all of the Line6 guys combined PERIOD! Their mono-tone, play and switch patch only videos were not helpful at all to me and their sales probably reflect that? I'm sure you've helped sell way more units than those cats combined! Thanks Richie for all your help and hard work!!! Best M

I’ve really been on the fence about a Helix, especially since both tube amps I’ve owned have been plagued with issues, I’m just really unlucky with them. I already knew the Helix was a big contender for a replacement, especially since it fits right in with silent stage IEM playing. but this video showed me some of the absolute POWER this thing can command when it comes to rig building, it really seems like it can just do anything, especially with how effortlessly it coexists with real amps, pedals, and speakers. Incredible video, my wallet hates you, but my inner musician loves you.

Hi Richie, excellent videos. The first sign of a good presentation is no haters (thumbs down). I like the way you move quickly and precisely through your instructions (if I get lost the progress bar is the first tool to use of course). I'm just starting to experiment with the versatility of the Helix and it is awesome. Much less complicated than trying to use all the extra gear required to set up the different pedal board configurations. I spent some time, effort and $ in the past trying to get the WDW set up. The Helix took all the hassle out of that rig. Thanks for the simple 4 cable explanation as well. I'll be examining the rest of your videos - subscribed of course.

Yes is my favorite since I was in middle school, so of course, I’d love to see the geeks try Gates of Delirium! Great videos though, you’re like a buddy, we just haven’t met...can’t thank you enough!

Very cool Richie. It's tempting to get a Helix to mess around with my Mesa Triaxis and Simul 90 power amp. I've never done a WDW before. Great work on the demo.
