I believe this motor can be connected to a DCC decoder allowing you to control movement direction and speed via an NCE PowerCab controller.
@chrisderby9869 ай бұрын
Correct. And that’s what I did eventually. It worked really well connected to a decoder. I didn’t use NCE Powercab, I used a Digitrax Zephyr Express. I do have another video showing this.

Hi, thank you for this video which will be very useful to me. I just ordered the Locomotech kit which seems to me much better than the PECO model. Thierry

Thank you, the Peco motor kit isn’t great I’m told, and don’t even get me started on the Expo kit!

I'm just doing an N gauge one. I have a handy hint for you. A few years ago I made an electric focuser for a telescope using a very similar geared motor. Wiring is easy, 2x DP push button switches, one for clockwise, one for anti-clock. These motors tend to over run a little bit, free wheeling with the gears? When you wire in the switches, make sure "off" leaves the motor wires shorted, this acts as a brake and the motor will stop instantly?. Works even better on a core less. The simplest wiring leaves a problem, what if both are accidentality pressed? Simply wire a small bulb across the motor to take the load, the bulb will also slow the turntable a bit for you and let you know it's working?

If it's any help to you in the future. I find white spirits a bit oily. So I use IPA. It leaves no oily traces, evaporates quite quickly and is safe to clean electrical items too. Like the layout progress. Keep up the good work.

Howdy! Thanks for the video! Would you happen to know what the depth of the turntable is, including the motor?

Good afternoon, is your turntable now dcc controlled ? Where did you find that motor sounds and works well
@chrisderby9864 жыл бұрын
It's still DC controlled, but I think I will be converting it to DCC at some point in the near future! The motor is part of the Locomotech kit

How would I DCC this?

Not 100% sure if I'm honest with you! I'm sure there's a decoder available for it

@@chrisderby986 would not a normal dcc chip work? just connect the grey and orange to the motor?..
@chrisderby9863 жыл бұрын
@@stevenkitching4866 it might! I’ll look into this, as I have a spare decoder somewhere
@stevenkitching48663 жыл бұрын
@@chrisderby986 , hi mate, it goes, orange and grey to motor, red and black to pick ups. Any dcc chip will work

It’s well worth doing, and I’d you can afford the extra then go for the indexing option, well worth it! I’ve subbed to your channel too, and will have a look. Chris
