Legend has it that they named it the MS-20 because it takes you 20 years to figure all this shit out

it's a bit easier if you use the external signal processor. patch your microbrute into 'signal in'. patch out of external signal processor amp (right next to signal in) into "ext signal in" (top). Then patch external signal processor "trig out" into "trig in (kbd)" and that's it. Bring up your signal and you can utilize the ms20 filter etc without the extra patching.

There should be more videos like this where it explains how to use multiple instruments at once while still being able to use the functionality of the MS-20. The ESP is great if you want to just use that, but you should be able to run a synth or drum machine through the ms-20 while still being able to play notes. I’m glad I found your video, it’s homestly the best one out there 🙏🏻

I spent all night thinking about building individual filters for each instrument in the mix. (Which I still might do because it seems cool) but I wanted to use the ms20 filter for my boss drum machine first. Awesome video thanks.

I think you can mimic the arturia brute factor by using the headphone out and putting into the external signal processor and out to the external signal in. As the latter is already used, you will have to use a Y adapter. Good tutorial by the way. Well explained.

Very helpful. Question: When I send signal IN from Ableton, I am getting a hum noise. Is it inpendance issue? If I do audio IN from another synth, it works just fine. PLease advise
@fuerlingerp4 жыл бұрын
A hum like that can have a lot of different reasons. In general it is a good idea to have all your gear connected to the same outlet in order to prevent "ground loops". The reason could also be a poor ground connection on the synth itself. A DI-Box or on of those coils which reduce the noise should also help. Unfortunately I do not know what those are called in english, I'm very sorry.

or you can use a direct box to amplify the signal

Can I use the same process to use a mic?
@fuerlingerp4 жыл бұрын
Sure :) You can use any signal by just plugging it into the external input. If you plug a guitar or microphone into it you could even make the MS-20 track that signals pitch. I actually plan on doing a tutorial on that soon.
