I bought a similar Nokia N95 a week ago in a mobile store specialized in selling old Nokia phones. I bought it with all its contents in an original carton, made in Finland, at a price of 270 Saudi riyals. I want to go back to the past, and I left smart phones only to browse KZbin and Facebook

Thanks for this elaborate review!! As you know, I've had the N95 8GB as my daily driver back in 2007, and like you mentioned, the camera was incredibly professional and superior for its time. It was the first time I confidently used my phone as my main camera during holidays, without even bringing a seperate digicam with me like I used to do before. I still got some photos and videos of that time on my old HDD, maybe I will post them in our sub at one point.

I am using the N95 as a daily second phone on a different network as signals are quite flakey where I live. Plus I find using it just as a phone very easy as it fits in my pocket. Also, I like the use of all the buttons and slide mechanism more tactile than boring flatscreens. Modern phones are boring slabs all looking the same plus they are huge causing them to fall out of pockets resulting in costly replacement glass.

Had one in 2007. Nice gadget. But, battery life was very short, even back in that days, 1-2 days of moderate use was mediocre. Strange, never bought one again (had N95 8GB). Mine also had loose display part. And, yes, for some reason I had to send in service because it was not charging battery. Nice review. Best regards from Dubrovnik/CRO!

I have one of these forms back in around 2008. A nice looking phone but boy did it crash something terrible rebooting itself from time to time. Also the battery cover was very flimsy and could easily break but with a good protective case it wasn’t such an issue. Thanks for the trip down memory lane though and for the review.

The plastic clip on the battery compartment break easily. I have had several replacements even with it always in a flip open case. The power chord has lost the covering plastic but still works. The plug slips out so has to be charged held vertically to use the weight to hold the plug in place. Battery can be replaced. The excellent maps no longer work, even with the local maps on the microSD card. GPS works but was always slow in finding the signal. In built up cities with many high buildings the battery would drain before you got a GPS signal. Unless you had spare batteries a day's sight seeing taking photos and using the street maps drained the battery before mid-day. In normal use it would last a week between charges. Internet service from most carriers and at home from wi-fi. The web browser still works - depending on web site but the screen is a window onto the page needing a lot of scrolling around to use. Without a touch screen almost un-usable. The stereo speakers are good and FM radio adequate via the wired earphones when out and about. I bought mine second hand in 2009, upgraded from the Sony K800 and still used it in 2021, although after 2018 only to use up credit on the SIM having got my first Android phone for its 23Mp camera, dashcam, workable internet and maps. The internal clock fails when the battery drains. I presume it has a separate battery backup for the clock and that is dead.

The Nokia N95 looks like really nice phone for smartphone/internet detox. I was wondering if the maps app still works even while its probably horribly out of date it would be pretty usefull especially in citys and if there is an e-mail client for this phone?

For awhile I was able to use the maps already downloaded, but could not access updates or maps for regions I had not already connected to. That too stopped working. I still get the pointer to show where I am but the map has no detail. Camera is excellent, even at only 5Mp, stereo built in speakers or connect to powered speakers still useful for its FM radio and playing music or podcasts. With a new (recent) battery is able to run for a week between charges.

Just bought this phone lol. put a sim through it and it is able to send and receive mms messages but those take a little time before it completes them. other than that it still works nicely for calling and sending sms. Wish they never took down the 3g network tho. And this important tip is very late but never flip it to the side of the mp3 player buttons as it will tear the screen cable

Buy a second hand recently. It kinda have a lot of memories to me when I'm still a student. I would try to install emulator in and play game in class while teacher don't know. Now buying another one, I try to accept that a lot of thing this device no longer able to do. My main reason to get it is to use as backup to make a phone call to family or a multimedia device. The modern smartphone battery gone too fast and so annoying.

It takes 16Gb microSD and so stores a lot of MP3 music/podcasts. Plug into earphones or powered speakers is still a neat portable media player - if you get on with the media player supplied. It works but not the best interface media player. Batteries can be purchased new. Battery cover has tags that easily break and I have had several over the years. For phone calls, text messages, FM radio and MP3 player still adequate. GPS works. Web browsing always poor and the maps don't display streets now.

It rarely gets a GPS signal though, however I've read about people who opened their phones and used a bit of wire to basically create a bigger antenna.

Hi! My school does not allow the use of smartphones with the sole exception of using these "cellphones" or whatever these Symbian phone types were called. I'm looking for a usable one that can do calling (to communicate with my parents at school) while also having awesome games to play during lunch breaks, specifically asphalt games. Is the Nokia n95 still a viable and usable choice? Given the fact that I cannot use smartphones, will that make this phone alot more valuable nowadays? I need help! If I get the n95, do I have to replace the battery and how much do they cost? Do I have to buy anything else for it? And is it ready to use out of the box?
