With other waveform generators, I have. I have not done it with the PicoScope yet. This could work. However, the maximum voltage outputted by this waveform generator is 2 volts. That may or may not be enough to substitute for you sensor signal depending on the situation.

This particular generator can create a repeating signal, but cannot replicate any patterns that are usually part of the cam or crank signals.

Really neat! I did not know that a signal generator was even an option. I am really enjoying your Picoscope playlist! I have about 10 years experience in automotive repair and am looking to buy a Picoscope. Is there a big enough advantage to the 4425a to justify the price difference as compared to the 2204? Picoscope 6 vs Picoscope 6 automotive- what is the difference besides presets?

Hello Bradley. Thanks for the feedback on the videos! If you plan to use your scope for automotive testing, there is a huge difference between the 2204A and the 4425A. The 2204A's are not very robust and have a low sampling rate. While you can make them work for automotive testing, everyone I know who purchased a 2204A has wanted to upgrade within a year because they either stopped working or were frustrated with the limitations. I would not hesitate at all to purchase a 4425A instead if you want something that will last a lifetime and capture quality waveforms. If you are only going to be doing light-duty electronic bench testing, the 2204A scope may be sufficient. Well if You click on the SAMPLES Burton in the Arbitrary Waveform Windows and put in 1010101010101010010101010101010 You can simulator a cranckshaft Hall sensor or anything else with a pulse pattern.
