Hey, Stephan. Good video. I feel that the Reason Rack Plugin is good for adding instruments or effects to Logic ... but in Logic due to the incompatibility, it’s not good at all for drum patterns or loops. Also, I was having trouble routing reDrum channels to Aux channels. For Dr.Rex by the way, one workaround is to export the MIDI from Reason and import it into Logic.

Also, personally I wouldn’t say that ReDrum is better than Ultrabeat. I think they’re both great. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. In Logic you can create longer patterns ... and add way more drum samples ... and special effects in Ultrabeat whereas in the Reason Factory library you get a better selection of drum samples. However, at the end of the day, it’s how you use them!

Contrary to the popular belief, I feel that it makes a lot more sense to rewire Reason 10 projects to Logic Pro as that way you can do way more things. That method is much better especially for producers who’ve been using Reason and Logic for years ... and who have a ton of Rewired projects.

I think mainstage users will gain the most from this. I moved over to Windows about a year ago because I really wanted touchscreen. I went from using mainstage to GigPerformer3. I have Reason 11 studio since the day it released. Using all the sounds and effects of Reason in a multi-timbral out enviroment is great for live use easy layering with multi audio outs from within the Rack VST. If I was still a mainstage user this is an amazin addon. It really does need midi out. I know there is talk of some workarounds on the forums with audio to CV out and CV i/o rack extension. I did not look into it. I think Propellerhead should consider a VST only version to make it cheaper for those not using the Reason DAW. All in all, I updated, I am using the VST Rack side of Reason and loving it.

*QUICK TIP* For those that wish to copy ReDrum's midi to your track (MIDI OUT) I found a little trick, it just depends on patience but becomes quite quick after a few tries lol. 1. Create pattern in Logic with ReDrum 2. Right click> Copy pattern 3. Open Reason & create ReDrum 4. Right click> Reset device, Right click> Paste pattern 5. File>Export Midi> Save into Logic file folder> Drag & drop back into Logic : ) IG: @itsrynsaman

@Stefan Guy No mention of Neptune which is one of my favorite Reason plugins which lets you harmonize vocals in anyway you can think of..far superior than "Antares Harmony Engine"

Funny enough I had planned to use it originally as I was going to use my own vocals for the vocoder but use neptune on my vocals first as I can’t sing haha. Decided to use a pre recorded vocal instead. May touch on it in a separate video! Thank you!

Hi Stefan First of All, great work on the tune in a background! great beat ! In general Reason plugin rack is what I've been waiting for ages, especially when it comes to use of NN-19 n' NN-XT samplers in Logic. My biggest disappointment is, inability to copy Redrum drum patterns into Logic, which is quite an issue here. Please keep us posted if you come across anything that resolves this major problem. Hey Joe! No smart controls are not the only way thankfully.. I personally like to set up smart controls as it makes it easy to link them to my controller. BUT all of the parameters inside your rack can be found natively in Logic’s automation. Is that something you can do inside of Reason Stand Alone?

It's a shame that the Reason folks can't figure out how to properly code the plug-in version number so that Logic doesn't scan it every time Logic starts and report it as "invalid". I have reported it multiple time. The latest update did not fix it.

Mine doesn’t report it as invalid but it does scan it every time. I was wondering why that happens.

Stefan Guy trust me. Go into the Logic plug-in manager and sort by version. Then scroll till you find the 3 Reason Rack plug-ins and you will see they report as invalid version numbers. This is precisely why Logic rescans them at every launch. I can even tell you why this is happening. Reason is using too long of version numbering in their code. Logic only supports a maximum of 6 digits. They are using too many. I’ve told Reason this. I don’t know why they don’t fix it. Other plug-in manufacturers like SSL have made this mistake in the past, but they quickly fixed it.

Definitely not for most people. They function so differently that you'll be tackling 2 learning curves and moving half as fast at both. Maybe you're better at learning that way but most people are not. I have 5 years Reason experience and 1 year Logic. In that time I've learned more on Logic. Reason is easier to learn if you understand hardware and patching. Logic is easier to learn if you understand computer programs and digital production. P.S. In my opinion I'd learn Logic and all its stock plugins and features then learn free simple plugins. Then jump to 3rd party plugins. After you have all these features and plugins under your belt you can then tackle Reason. Being new, you have the illusion that you need more when really you need to learn the basics before spending more money.

Quartet is significant because it breaks away from what was a number 1 rule for Reason devices which is that all devices must behave and look like real hardware. Quartets front panel changing knobs and sliders when selecting different modes is unrealistic.

great video but I am having issues with using reason redrum, is there any way to copy the drum pattern to a track/sequencer ( I use fl studio, so I need to copy it to the playlist) so frustrating because I cannot edit the beat properly if its trapped in the rack

Anybody else struggling with Reason Rack plugin overloading CPU meter in LPX? I can barely add one or two instances of rack and the CPU will just creep up and then start to crackle and drop sounds. It's worthless... Running 2014 Macbook Pro, which despite its age runs 30-50 tracks regularly in LPX, or Reason Stand Alone for that matter. Cheers

Hey Mercedes, sorry for the late reply! You should be able to yeah. But you'll have to locate where the logic stock sounds are saved. They should be in library > Application Support > Logic Pro X > Ultrabeat Samples then find the kit you want to use the samples from :). I hope this helps

Hey Kenneth. I'd spend time with Logic first. Learn its synths and effects etc. and get the most out of them first. Logic still has a wealth of great sounds and effects. Once you feel like you've exhausted them and want something different or need a particular sound or effect then I'd consider looking into things like Reason 11 and other plugins.

Are you referring to the on screen keyboard when use press command+K? If so then yes as that’s a built in Logic feature that will work with any VST :)

Hey Lee, thank you brother!!! So you’ll need to update to the latest version of Reason 11. When you open Reason 11 you should get a prompt at the top. This update should install the Logic AU component automatically. The next time you open Logic it should be there. Let me know if you have any issues.

But where's the copy button on the dr octorex because I still have to use reason to use my favourite device that does not work in the reason rack which is pointless to tell you the truth because I bet you couldn't replay a rex sample In logic like you can in reason because theres no copy button so i still have to use reason 10 so that makes it useless to me completely useless
