You da man, Alistair. Just bought my Aerophone Go off EBay, but hasn’t arrived yet, so these tutorials are fantastic for getting me prepared for TOO MUCH FUN! I play tenor, alto, and soprano sax, but my dogs (with whom I share my living/studio space,) get overly enthusiastic every time I try to practice, which is very cute, but equally annoying. Can’t wait for the new axe. Cheers.

Alistair, Thank you for your videos. They helped me choose the aerophone ae10-g, which I received a few days ago. I have 2 questions about this and a related video. First, is this aerophone go plus app used with the ae10-g? Secondly, you’ve shown the Bluetooth connection with the aerophone go. But I cannot find a Bluetooth connection for the ae10-g. It’s hard to believe that Roland would drop such a feature in a model upgrade. I’m hoping that I’ve just overlooked it. Many Thanks

I am a newbie to this. Had some sax lessons in high school and now I am 60.... I want to get back to sax playing, and I just got my Aerophone GO. This is just AMAZING! I read in a forum that someone assigned the right thumb button to growl on the Aerophone GO - I can't figure out how to do this. I download the app and couldn't find it . Thx in advance for your help!

Hi. I'm not sure that works on the Aerophone GO on internal sounds. It can on the AE-10.
@sylpla5434 жыл бұрын
Thx Alistair for replying! I solved my problem. Sold my GO and bought the AE-10 😊

Hello. I'm new to the AE-05, so this might be a simplistic question, but here goes. In previous video lessons the Aerophone is being connected to an external amplifier, which from what I hear on the video gives a MUCH better quality sound. But if I'm using the Aerophone GO+ app on my iPhone to generate the additional instrument sounds, how do also incorporate the external amp? It seems as though I gain instruments but now have only the small speaker in my iPhone. What am I missing?
@isax.academy2 жыл бұрын
Perfectly good question that I should have been more clear with. You would need to have a cable from the iPad to the speaker. Depending on your iPad that could mean you’ll also need an adapter. If you have a headphone out on the iPad that will do but if not you’ll need an adapter from the lightning or USBC port on the iPad to a headphone out.

Would you recommend the aerophone go for a student saxophonist? I am not looking to replace my sax. But I want something fun to play around with. I also make a lot of music on my PC using midi keyboards.
@thanasisathanasi49655 жыл бұрын
This is exactly what you and I want. Didn't purchase it yet but from what I see saxophonists who are either busy or live in appartments buy it.

Thank you for some very nice and instructive videos. Even if all the settings of the Aerophone is frightening, it's also attempting with a lot of exciting options. Then a very practical question: We are spending the summer in a small cabin where I have trouble being able to practice on my tenor and my clarinet. Will playing the Aerophone with a head set keep up with what's necessary to keep in shape on the tenor and the clarinet?
@isax.academy5 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes on the sax but perhaps not so much for the clarinet.

Hi Are the saxophone sounds better off the app than on the device itself? Thanks
@midgtkarell3 жыл бұрын
Do you need the app to be open/on in order to play the extra sounds? Or can you save it onto your aerophone?
@isax.academy3 жыл бұрын
Hi. The app sounds can't be transferred in the AE-05, you have to play them via the iPad.

Can you make a video showcasing all the sound avalible in the app?

Alistair, are the Swam sounds worth getting now that the Aerophone has updated sounds ?
@isax.academy5 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. I do find that I can increasingly use just the Aerophone internal sounds for much of what I need. However, I think the sound quality and the editing capabilities of the SWAM sounds is still the very best that I’ve used. This comes at a price of course but, in my opinion they are unbeatable sounds. Have you looked at the Xpression or Xpresso synth? These offer an amazing set of sounds especially designed with wind synths in mind. Again huge edit capabilities and all in a hardware unit that’s rock solid and doesn’t require a computer.

I am again here on your wonderful "niche" channel. Didn't purchase the aerophone yet. One question though. Is it possible to set it to be controlled with my 3 fingers just like we play a trompet or a tuba or something? Thank you again so much!

Yes there is a brass fingering mode.

Can this app be used with the AE 10? This is a much better looking app than the editor ap, and I'd sure love a drum set patch.

No the app can’t be used with anything else I’m afraid.

Hi Alistair - I bought a GO almost entirely on your recommendation .... and I'm loving it. However, I'm having a problem with the App. Bluetooth is too delayed to be used so I plug in via the USB. When I finish, I disconnect but the App keeps churning away in background and will completely drain my phone battery. I've reduced Auto Shutdown to 5 mins and turned off 'Battery App Refresh' on the phone - but it doesn't make any difference. I've even re-installed the App. The only way to stop it is to turn my phone off, which seems a little drastic. Am I missing something?

Hello Rick, I do not know if you could solve it, the same thing happens to me but also I did not manage to get my smartphone to recognize the cable connection so I can not use the application if you could solve it I ask you to tell me how to connect it by calbe and if you managed use some computer program to use sounds, thank you.
@rickwheeler17514 жыл бұрын
@@rauljonatanregalini6736 Hi Raul. I still turn off my phone after using the app. I connect just as Alistair describes it. Make sure you switch your instrument to 'Battery' power even though you are using the usb cord. Tap the Sax icon. At the top right of your screen is says App Sound. Touch that and the sound come through your phone. Plug your speakers in. Good luck. Cheers

@@rickwheeler1751 Even though my reply is a bit late, maybe some other people will find this useful. You need to go to settings and disable the ability of the app running on the background-this will stop it chewing on your battery. It could be either app's settings or general ipad settings. there is also a setting to check in your battery to see what is using your battery-that's how I discovered an app that was running on the background unbeknownst to me. I think it's in the "battery" section of iPad settings under the cog icon.

Thanks for mentioning the USB connectivity. I hate Bluetooth.
@danczoc5 жыл бұрын
The bluetooth connection is useless to me as there is too much latency to play along with a backing track. I have tried to connect the Areophone directly to my Huawei phone but it didn't reduce the latency. I have also tried the usb-c plugin to my ipad but still it didn't reduce the latency. I still haven't tried a usb cable as the one Alistair Parnell uses but I have my doubts that it will help me to get rid of the latency as it didn't work on my phone. If not, the app is useless to me :-( By the way I think Roland should have made a curved neck so that one didn't have to look down when playing the aerophone. I get tired in my neck after a few minutes and the posture is not very audience friendly - or healthy. I fell like the hunchback of Notre Dame. And raising it to 45 degress out in front of me is also uncomfortable as this is not a light instrument like a recorder.

I have watched most of your videos, and there's one sound you never show off. Sadly it's the one i'm most interested in hearing! Why can't you show off the sax sound? Is it really that bad???
@isax.academy4 жыл бұрын
I'm not a fan of the saxophone sounds I must admit. When I want a saxophone sound I play the real thing. The other problem is a saxophone can sound so different depending on who plays it, it can never be the 'right' sound for everyone. I can understand people want to hear it never the less.
@DaggerStyle3 жыл бұрын
@@isax.academy thank you for the reply. I am but a newbie who wants to learn the sax without bothering the neighbours. The make or break for me buying this is how genuine it sounds compared to a real sax. I understand it will never be the real thing, but I would love to know how well I could replicate careless whisper and baker street with it
