Using the VIAIR 450-RVS Tire Inflator in Great Sand Dunes National Park

We don't go anywhere without our VIAIR Tire Inflator which came in handy this past week when we were in Great Sand Dunes National Park.
From our passenger vehicle to our 4-wheeler and of course, our RV, the VIAIR is a piece of safety gear that we wouldn't want to be without.

We hear this a lot and we still think the Viair tops all the rest as far as portability and power.

Can you hook up the pump to the house battery?

Hey Rick and Darci, you can do that as long as your RV is connected to shore power. Otherwise, you need to have your engine running while using.

@@Technorv Thank you. That is something we just learned because I have been doing it off my house battery this whole time. But I do not have to pump up the tires very much when I do it because I am very on the pressures in my tires

Eric, I would like to see this demonstration on a class A that requires 110-115 psi. When I purchased my 450 from you, I was led to believe the performance would better. I spent a lot for something that will perform no better than an 18 volt Milwaukee and I don’t have to run the coach. engine.

Hi TrinidadDave, Typically I am not adding so much air to a tire. When we are in the class A I may be airing from 110-115. I have never had any issues and the VIAIR has got a great reputation with RVers. I have not used the Milwaukee before. For me personally, I dont like the idea of a cordless battery as we have been in a lot of situations over the years that I am not sure the battery life would have done the trick, especially when we have helped others out on the trail and are airing several vehicles up. As for a demonstration, we can do that. It may take some time as we are not traveling in our Class A this Summer, but when we get back to it we can do some demos. Eric

About to purchase one for our new Tiffin Class A…is it the same recommendation to run the coach engine and connect to the chassis batteries? My plan prior to watching this video was to use the chassis batteries for the right side and the house batteries for the left side.

Hey Mac, if you are connected to shore power then this will keep the amperage up on your batteries. If you are not on shore power, then yes, you would want to have the engine running to keep that amperage up. I have done this many times and works great. I found the VIAIR pressure gauge is no where near accurate. I carry another pressure gauge to be sure my RV tire pressures are correct.

I think that is a good idea- to measure with another gauge. Regardless of whether your particular viair gauge is correctly calibrated, having another measurement to confirm or refute a viair reading on a critical component reduces risk.

I agree! The Viair gauge is certainly a good reference point, but I would trust a hand gauge over it. And I would trust a TST sensor reading over any hand gauge.

I run the Nitto Ridge Grappler 37x13.50R20 on the truck.
