I've been watching all over KZbin and finally I found a video where I can see the functionality of a wacom tablet (specifically this model) for video editing. Thank you so much man, the rest of the Videos I found are CRAP.

I've had the same problem. My professional video editor friends use wacom and say that most pros do. I was shocked at the lack of tutorial coverage. Even lynda has none.

Other than illustrating, drawing paths, pen pressures and custom buttons, I always found a pen ergonomically worse compared a mouse. You have to move your hand way too much with a pen while with a mouse, just your arm moves while your entire palm is at rest on the mouse. No particular advantage with a pen, except for a few programmable buttons. That you can any which way do with Keyboard+mouse custom settings.

thanks for your video. With a Wacom Cintiq 22-inch, it is not hard for shoulders to edit by that? Intuos devices are the better choice to use for Adobe Premiere for example?
@JochyEstrella4 жыл бұрын
I got an intuous for photo editing and tried using it for video, at the end I ended up putting it away cause it slowed my workflow considerably, since am lefty mouse user I prefer to use a hand size logitech programmable Gaming controller keyboard on my right an map shortcuts and oftern used keys to my NLE, the only usefull things about a tablet is for drawing masks or rotoscoping when compositing imho.
@mikhin3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Only tablet with real screen like cintiq 13hd can be usefull.

It's interesting to see full editing process of some kind of difficult video with a lot of cuts, transitions, color grading etc. In this video there are not evidence that tablet is suitable for such kind of tasks. Also I tried tablet by myself and it veeery slowdown my editing process. Why? Because pen as not preсise as a mouse. And you spend extratime to put it in the right position. Unfortunatelly this video looks unconvincing yet.

I've been editing with a intuos since 2008. Editing with a mouse was giving me wrist pain. I can't imagine going back to a mouse, I am still using a tablet that is about 7 years old. Can anyone compare the newer model vs the older model? Wondering if I should upgrade?

Hello friend, your videos are great! Could you give me some advice please? I work with Vfx, 3D modeling and also as a colorist. I have a budget of USD $ 3,500. And I wanted to invest in a Blackmagic mini panel for color, but some friends recommended that I buy a Wacom Cintiq pro 32 Touch panel or a Wacon Cintiq pro 24 Touch + Tangent Wave2 panel. My question is: Are Wacom 24 or 32 Touch recommended and do they respond to color work in Davinci Resolve? Or is a Blackmagic Minipanel better? My biggest workflow is Vfx, 3D modeling and now as a colorist. Based on your experience: Could you give me some advice please? And thanks for your time!

If it can be used for video editing then it can be used for audio editing / music production i needed something as mouse replacement since i have smaller space for mouse as 70% of the space is covered up by keyboard and other stuff hence they often collide accidentally, so I was thinking of getting myself and external trackpads but this seems to be a better option since I also use Graphic editing software as well.
@Dulabicstudio4 жыл бұрын
Yup, it'll work fine. I do use it for audio editing as well when I edit audio for my videos.

They will do the same job but the pro versions will have more features, better pen pressure and so on. But I have used the base model for video as well and it still works.

Could you use it with the mouse ? i'm keen to buy one just to make my subject-masking process I was wondering if I can use them for masking on both AE and PR ?
@Dulabicstudio4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. This graphics tablet with the pen can be used for really anything. It can replace your mouse for masking for sure. I use this for Premiere pro and After Effects and it works just fine. I have a mouse but I don't use it. Only thing to consider are applications that use the middle mouse button like 3D apps. That can sometimes be a problem.
@PanteraRossa3 жыл бұрын
Yes it's perfect for roto and masking. And it actually replaces mouse functionality for the most part.

Very informative video, but still a lot to splurge on considering that only do video editing and will most probably never sketch or do photo touch ups. Is there a way to make our ipads behave like the wacom table for the purpose of video editing? Or would you recommend something like the Huion Inspiroy instead for uses like mine? That'll save us from the pain of carpel tunnel syndrome without spending a fortune on these tablets that are for more specialized use.
@Dulabicstudio4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. You can always get the Intuos non pro versions. If you get the smallest one it's less than $100 and it's still a good tablet. I've used the small and the medium non pro versions as well and while I prefer the pro ones (I do use it every day though) I still like the non pro ones. Yes, you can get the Huion and other non Wacom ones and they have been getting better with each generation but I still find there are driver issues here and there.

I have a 15.4” MacBook Pro, I don’t plan on using an external screen, do you think the small will be more than enough or would you still spend extra for the medium?

Hi there. Size wise you should be OK. I've used the small one on 2 screens and it still worked. Wasn't perfect but it worked. So I would say you should be OK but of course everyone's preference is different.
