Hey everyone, Just want to point out that there are a lot of very smart, hard-working, and passionate people working at EMR software makers currently. I don't believe any of them have ever set out to make something that is difficult to use or intentionally try to burn physicians out. However, unfortunately the way the industry and these incumbents operate kind of necessitate it. That's a different video for another time but I just want to acknowledge of the hard work these folks are doing.

I work in the healthcare IT industry as a new UX UI designer. It's inspiring to see this type of content for an industry with very outdated tech!

Thanks for watching! I agree that the industry has outdated tech. It takes ALL of us to improve it. Keep crushing it!

Man, I started my UX career 15 years ago working on plug-ins for GE Centricity, this all brings back so many early memories of banging my head against the wall trying to make sense of something so endlessly complex. I am a recent subscriber and this is some amazing work on the subject. I went on to banking and then from there into telephony and I never worked harder for a paycheck than doing UI/UX for a heathcare company. I really wish you success in your endeavor here because this stuff is HARD to make look good. If you ever want to trade UX notes let me know but I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on your journey.

That's really amazing and helpful. It will be best if you make another video on the "Before" and "After" design that will really helpful for us.

Great suggestion! It’s difficult to track down current designs but a more in depth breakdown is an interesting idea!

Such an important topic and you did an incredible job of the story telling and capturing the painpoints for us physicians clicking through such products. Small changes can really make a huge difference and with Epic cornering the market the attention bloat is likely going to get worse before it gets better. The private practice cash-based doctors, especially those of us in the virtual space, have it a little better. If there ever is an intersection between your interests and that of AutonomyMD I hope that you and Scott can do a braindump together. Thank you for creating this great video - an art piece, really.

Thanks for the kind words! I've not heard of AutonomyMD but I will certainly look it up! Please do let me know if anything else resonates. I'm all ears for feedback, ideas, and reactions.

I’m a nurse and have wanted to get into ux/ui design in healthcare. Wasn’t really sure how to go about it though.

Hey Lauren! Thanks for watching! It's great to hear about medical folks being interested in UX/UI design. There are many folks on KZbin who could give you a crash course into how and what UX/UI design is. I've also compiled a list of helpful resources on the Alloy Website here: www.alloy.health/resource-library Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

@@rbrtflyd I will definitely check out your resources! Do you mind if I reach out to you via email just to ask a few questions about the ux/ui?

Its a hairy problem, legacy tech, embedded with no doubt horrible and expensive procurement agreements, iso standards to jump through etc etc.. as much as it was a nice presentation of what was a clean but, lets be honest, generic UI kit set against a compelling dialogue and important relatable topic - it didn’t really talk about impact or outcomes? Is this a real a system in production? The design seems like the easy bit compared to the governance of navigsting a project like this with a healthcare as a major stakeholder. I appreciate the video and the work.

Thanks for watching! There are so many inter-related technology and business problems that better UX alone won't solve the issue completely. Though, I do believe that improving the UX of these products creates a deeper emotional impact for users (which in turn creates change with stakeholders) which can have game changing improvements for an industry. Maybe not yet in your hospital, but maybe, just maybe, for that doc down the street hanging their own shingle! Impact and outcomes are also quite important and something I definitely didn't address in this video in enough detail but will in the future!
