Hi Adam, I just sign up for 1password and looking at your video my login doesn't look any thing like your. I'm on a Mac mini too running Ventura 13.1. Am I running a different version than yours? I'm on a single user plan.

Hey, we are in the process of buying a home, have been for about 6 months and just about closed on one so I packed up my studio which then fell through. I have my temp studio finally setup and plan to get back to making videos in the coming days and this is on my list. The video I made was using version 7 of 1Password and they just released version 8 not too long ago which has a different look. I will be doing an updated video very soon!!

Hey Adam! Thank you so much for this video! How do you set up the passwords so that the entire team can access but no one can change the passwords or log you out of your accounts?
@BenSolomonIM Жыл бұрын
A password manager can't do that. Once a user has logged into an account that you're sharing with someone (ie. use the same account that has access to change the password for that account). In a business setting, depending on what system you use for create and manage accounts (eg. AzureAD, On-Prem AD, etc), you can set policies on specific user accounts so that they can't change a password. Also, if you are creating 'member' level accounts on cloud platforms, you can set the option to not allow them to change passwords, and share the password via a password manager where they can't 'see' the password, but can login (this is not fool proof as the browser can pickup the password and if they save it into their browser password manager they can see the password). Hope that helps.

Sorry, I missed this! The only one that can but no one in their right mind would suggest is LastPass...lol.

Hey Adam, how can you set up the passwords so your family members or team mates can access the vault but they can not change the passwords in case of an internal issue or conflict between team members?

My interface doesn't look anything like that. I managed to create a work vault but I can either view the list of items, or the list of vaults, but not both. So there seems to be no way to move an item into a vault.

Great video. Quick question. When a password is shared with a co-worker for example, is the password encrypted on their end so they don’t know the actual password? And does that employee need their own 1 Password account?
@AdamOnTech Жыл бұрын
Thanks, if you are sharing a single password they will see the username and the password, you can also set the length for how long it is shared. If you want a little more capability they will need an account, then you can create a vault that is shared with them and they can see everything in it. It's too bad that LastPass really dropped the ball as they had some great sharing features. I don't know if Dashlane or Bitwarden has a bit more capability for sharing but might be worth looking into.

1password seems to be using my chrome password list. Chrome even says it is managed by 1password. If I tell it no to manage the chrome passwords the extension disappears from chrome. Is this the way it is supposed to work? Also Is there a good in depth tutorial I can read?

I am wondering if EVERYTHING you do on the desktop ap is immediately added to the Chrome Browser App. AND .... do all the changes in eitherthe Brower and/or desktop app immediately go to your iPhone and iPad if you have set up 1 Password on them as well

I have found it is pretty quick at syncing between everything! Sometimes it might take a couple of seconds but overall when I have added something from my phone or from my computer it shows up on the other devices within a few seconds at most. Sometimes the connection will hiccup and it takes a little longer but I can't recall the last time that happened.

Hey Adam i am new to 1password but i can't find how to remove duplicate password accounts. When i exported from lastpass everything came in double can youi tell me how to remove doubles.
@AdamOnTech Жыл бұрын
I went through the same process as I migrated from LastPass to 1Password. What I did is the file you will download from LastPass is just a CSV file that you can open in Microsoft Excel or any other spreadsheet program. I went through that and made sure it was clean, no doubles, etc and then imported it. My suggestion would be to delete everything in your vault, aside from anything you have newly added and then do the import again and that should take care of it. If it is still duplicating I would contact 1Password support, they are usually pretty quick to get back and helpful!

Adam, I’m assuming the or any password manager would only work securely if using a secure login on a PC. What I’m getting to is our main home/family computer is always on with just a basic login or no login and my wife leaves it running all day so she or any of the kids can access it. So if 1Password was on it, how would it know who was logged on and which vault to be using. All my work and personal devices are secure and password-protected, but my wife just wants it to be on and working when she needs with no need to login. So how would you be able to use a password manager on an unsecured PC and even her IPhone and Ipad?
@AdamOnTech2 жыл бұрын
A shared computer can be much more challenging! I have computer in our server room that can be remotely accessed by a few vendors. I set my 1Password on that to always ask for my login so none of the vendors can view it. About the only thing I could think of is possibly add both of your accounts so 1Password is pulling from both your vaults and you just select your login when logging in on a site. Not ideal but should work. On a less secure phone you can have the app lock automatically right away so you would have to use your fingerprint or Face ID each time you use it instead of it staying open for a longer period of time.

Thanks for the speedy reply, another question. Are all the users equal or does the owner or one paying for the app have more access and controls who sees what. Lets say I’m the one paying for the app, so it’s linked to me, and with the family edition I give access to my wife and our kids to have there own vaults. Would I have access to the others vaults or what’s in them? I assume each person would have there own personal login and password for their own vault. But if one of my kids forgot their password to open their vault, would I have a way to open it for them?
@AdamOnTech2 жыл бұрын
No problem at all!! I have the family plan so know it well! When you login through their website you can send out invites to their email address. When they click the link in the invite they will actually go through and create their own account. All you can see in the admin section is how items they have in their vault. You are not able to view anything in their personal vault, only shared vaults allow you to all see depending who it is shared with. Now, a trick I have learned as I have some family that may not always remember their login (I'm sure some might even read this comment..lol) but I save their Master Password as a note in my personal vault so if by chance they forget it or something else happens I can quickly send them their information. I even store their emergency kit as a pdf which is a document 1Password creates when you make an account that has all the vital information. In my workflow I save that pdf file to my Dropbox Vault which is an encrypted folder on Dropbox.

Hey Adam, is there an easier way to add or convert my saved passwords in the iOS keychain rather then going to each web site and typing (or copying & Pasting)in all the data❓ I see that I can check both the iOS keychain and 1PW to auto fill, not sure if that would be helpful or not while getting all my passwords moved over. Also, now that I have some of them changed over into 1PW how do i have 1PW generate new harder passwords❓ Thanks

I have about 25 vaults and they were arranged by 1Password. Is there any way I can arrange the vaults in the order that I want them? Thanks
@AdamOnTech Жыл бұрын
I did a little bit of digging and there is no way to order them. The only thing I could think of is to put a number in front of them. The only one that will always be at the top is your personal vault. However, after that you could maybe go 1 - Work, 2 - Entertainment, etc..

Please can anyone confirm Bitwarden has this feature for multiple vaults. I’d really like to use them. Wannabe Lastpass refugee asking. If not may settle for 1password if not.
@AdamOnTech Жыл бұрын
I am not familiar with Bitwarden outside of people liking it but it looks like it does not support multiple vaults. It looks like you organize your info into folders. It has a free version so I'd suggest just setting it up and check it out to see if it'll fit your needs.

Hello sir. I have a personal account plan for 1password, but in my job I have a lot of passwords that I currently store under Internet browser that I use. I want to know is if I can use my personal 1password account and creative a vault called work and store all my username and passwords when I login to my job’s browser (chrome). I do not want to login with the credentials of my personal 1password account, I want to login instead with a different user name and password so that it for any reason the IT administrators cannot see my personal vault information. Is this possible on the personal 1password account? I want to be able to login from my work computer but I do not want my personal vault revealed, I only want my work vault revealed. Is this possible? thank you in advance.
@AdamOnTech2 жыл бұрын
Good evening, you can login on your work device and in the browser extension tell it to not look at your personal vault. You are just disabling that vault but will still login with your personal 1Password account. The other thing which would be a bit annoying but you can tell it every time you quit your browser on your work computer it will require you master password, that way if your IT department needs access to your laptop they can’t open your vaults.
@metechculous2 жыл бұрын
@@AdamOnTech thank you so much for clarifying. Even if I am able to login using my personal 1password account I have a feeling that the IT administrator will still have the ability to somehow access the browser and enable my private vault; thus making all my personal passwords visible. I have watch your video in detail where you specify how to login to the work browser and disable the vault that you do not want visible. To avoid this from happening since I would have to login with my personal 1password account credentials would the best option be to just to create a new account for work. If I choose this other option it means that I will have to pay for another account on a subscription plan is that correct? Pretty much I would have to be paying for 2 accounts. I also forgot to add that in my job the IT administrators have remote access at Will and they log activity of what goes on the works computers. The only purpose of me installing the 1password browser extension is to have less complications and pretty much less hassle free of having to storing complicated works passwords on different browsers. We not only use Google Chrome but we also use Microsoft edge and it has happened before that I have chang the password of a program/account entry on one browser and then I forget to change it on the other browser; thus, I lose access because I get locked out.

@@AdamOnTech First and foremost thank you for responding to my original message. I was able to upgrade to the family plan and I was able to create a completely separate account for my job with a unique user login and password that is different from my original master 1Password account. This is what I was looking for, because I didn’t want for whatever reason for the IT department in my job to be snooping around into my browser and purposely activate and view my private vault and being able to access all of my private account username and passwords. With a separate an independent user login for work, the IT administrators are not able to access my master account. They would be able to access how old are username and passwords that are stored for the accounts that I use at work which I don’t really mind. I didn’t want them for whatever reason to access my private vault (no one would like that). I hope that in the future 1Password would be able to implement a separate user account login or alias login/password for every vault. I know that this would defeat the purpose of upgrading to a family plan but they should be able to implement these changes, minus the additional features the family plan and business plans offer. In the meantime I will be paying for the $4.99/month in the family plan as opposed to only $2.99/mothn on rhe individual 1password account plan I had before I made the changes. In my view for the individual account the implementation of vaults is not sufficient and not secure enough because the user has to login in their “work” account or external purpose vault accounts for example with the master username and password.
@AdamOnTech2 жыл бұрын
No problem and that’s a great solution for it!! I definitely understand your concern, it comes down to how much access your IT department has and how heavy handed they are or need to be. It helps when you are the IT guy…lol. Though I am lucky and do not need to be heavy handed with our staff. We have remote access software installed but it’s only for support and they have to give me a pin before I can remote in, it isn’t unattended access.
