I like combining both weekly and daily pages in my planner. This video shows you my techniques developed over time on how to be more effective at using a paper organizer.

This was super helpful in me finding out some mistakes and how to tackle them. I kept on not factoring in commute time and so I didn't have a birds eye view to see what I can/can't say no to.

Thank you Kent. Appreciate your comments. Not sure if you recognize it or not, but I tried to model this video off of some of your de-ringed Malden videos. So thank you for those.

Great video Steve, I notice you do not use monthly calendars. I can't seem to get away from my monthly calendars, no matter what I try and your system works so much nicer than mine. I am trying to fit everything on the monthly page despite having weekly and daily pages available. I guess it's a matter of habit, but your system looks to run so smoothly.

Good question. My biggest challenge is sticking with a system that works and not trying to always tweak it. I like having monthly pages but for me a complete set of weekly can be more functional at times. However where the monthly adds value is that it provides a central spot to hold specify repeating monthly tasks such as bill paying or special events like vacations and birthdays

Having monthly, weekly, and daily together is why I want to try an A5 Hobonichi Cousin for 2022. Right now I have an EC daily Duo and a Happy Planner for weekly views and project planning. I will probably keep the Happy Planner for notes and projects.

I used the Cousin for several years, love it and I have a digital version as well for my iPad mini.

I’ve heard a lot of good about the Hobonichi, but never used it. Went into JerPens a few years back to actually buy it, but changed my mind. Pretty much entrenched in rings for now.

I hate the Happy Planner. Those discs are flimsy.

@loisbeyer5336 , I have been using a Jibun Techo Biz and Days in B6 slim for almost 2 years, along with a Hobonichi Cousin. I have my old Happy Planner which has held up nicely.

Really simple and easy to follow. I am going to try this later. I need the mix the date around a bit as I am English but thank you! Please like and subscribe to this channel! :)

Thanks. Simplicity is something to strive for but difficult to obtain.

What are you using for 2023 and what are your plans for 2024? Still using the Personal or did you go back to A5? All the best!
@organizersteve98484 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comments. I waited to respond as I was trying different sizes. I have now settle back on one main planner, in A5 size. Can’t seem to make personal size work. With A5 I gab a pen and write. With the Personal I grab a pen and then concentrate on writing smaller And abbreviate in order to conserve paper space

Wait - the Franklin Classic fits the rings on the Filofax A5???
@organizersteve98483 жыл бұрын
The rings don’t match so you have to repunch the paper to fit the Filofax A5

You still idea a monthly calendar too for a master overview?
@organizersteve9848 Жыл бұрын
Yes. My master calendar is electronic. During my weekly review I access it and then plan out the coming week on a paper calendar. Some duplicate work by the paper week includes time blocks. Sometimes I end up with 2-4 blocks every day and doing it electronically just clutters the master calendar. I may use a paper monthly page for planning if things are really busy with vacations/birthdates/etc., but not typically used. Thanks for asking.

Looks like a great video, but I can't get any sound at all on 2 different phones.

I’m glad your system works for you but it has too many moving parts for me. I find that the 2 pages per day with the monthly layout is more than sufficient for my needs.
@organizersteve98482 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I know what you mean and for years I used the monthly pages with daily pages. As my needs changed and I found I travel more and need to factor in travel time between meetings. The weekly format helps me block out travel time and insert phone calls / conference calls if needed.

I like to hear that with people who find a system that works for them and stick with it. Thank you

Let me check on it. I did switch to a different camera and am now using QuickTime to record the video.
