Change your screen resolution settings so it will all fit

I am not understanding why all members need to be either hollow or solid. The compression members of the truss will benefit from the hollow shapes vsv the solid ones because you get a larger radius of gyration number (Square Root of Inertia over Area) with the hollow tubes. Lacing can also help strengthen the compression members. Cross bracing can help load sharing between the two trusses. The tension members should not be affected by the solid shape because their strength is just a function of cross sectional area of steel, shape is not a consideration, correct?

The only reason why I have the students do one or the other is that I have them 3D print with a hand held 3D printing pen. It is hard to print hollow by hand. I keep them the same so that after we optimize the bridge, they will have a better idea about which members need to be bigger than others. I plan to remake this video and tell to only use solid because that is what we actually make later.

It seems interesting, I installed the program but it doesn't show the "next" option in step 2.. what should I do, I think it's at the bottom but in that step, I can't even scroll down :( I'm stuck plz help. thank you.

Maybe you need to select an option first. Mine had “no” set as a default.

Maybe try adjusting your screen resolution so it will fit on the screen.
