Instead of VOX can you simply key the mic? I have the X6100 and that's the way it works. Just checking.

the manual says SSB and AM can the keys be used for net announcements on FM Repeaters?

Honestly, I am not sure never tried. May be a problem on repeater needing pl tone for transmit

Thanks for the confirmation. I have tried this a dozen times. It goes through the motions but nothing is heard on playback unfortunately. Wondering if external audio is routed to the input opposed to the front mic. Radio works fine for phone operation with hand mic. Not sure what is going on. Edit: On playback you can hear the pop and hiss when the AF gain is turned up, but no audio :( It definitely tried to record something though.

Did you press the PTT while recording? Otherwise there wont be a recording, just silence.

I'm thinking about this radio but it's silly that the feature isn't available for FM. The 991A is known the be fifficult to use compared to the Icom 7300 but I want FM too.

i Tried this with my 991A and when I hit the CH1 it plays but I can not hear myself, what did I do wrong?
