I know you did this video a while back, > 4yrs. But I want you to help me with something. I’ve had my seals for a long time, and the wax is new and of a good quality. My problem is that my seal doesn’t lift away cleanly, it keeps pulling the wax up. I’ve used the seal in the past without problems, so I’m thinking my technique is off. Can you help with some advise? Could it I’m not using enough wax, or could it be the way I’m removing the seal? Thanks in advance for your help. 🌹 Rosie of Oz 🇦🇺

Rosanne Allbon keep the stamp on for 5 seconds then gently wigle and take the stamp off.

Try putting an ice cube in a teacup or shot glass, rest the seal directly on the ice for a few seconds, then dry it well on a towel. There will be some leftover moisture still, and the rapid temperature change should help the wax release.

I am just getting into wax seals. Looking at waxes I am concerned with what goes into them especially if they use mica. I have found it difficult to explore this with companies. The closet I get is the materials are sourced in North America Do you mica in any of your waxes if not I would love to buy some I do not have a problem with mica just an ethical one

Lightbringer was a video game character from when I was in high school, a Paladin or knight type. I was a fencer and an Eagle Scout so I figured I was about as close to that as you get today, it became a screen name when I made my first email address, and later a company name.

How do name stamp rings work then? Wouldn't it will do the mirror of name? Please enlighten me. Thanks

The metal & the wax are always mirror images, yes. I model the wax in 3D, then subtract that from the base seal or ring. Every customer with a bespoke order gets a proof sheet showing the models of the seal/ring & the wax for final approval before the order is final. For seals, I also put a smaller version of the design on top of the handle "the right way", so it's easier to set it straight & if you have multiple seals from me, you can tell which is which without flipping them over.

I mail them all the time, check out my Instagram (@LightbringerDesigns) of what one looked like after the mail from NY to New Zealand, and that's the new wax that will be coming soon. The current stuff was accidentally tested once with that same trip, plus around the world again the other way, tracked.

I can't be completely sure about that. If the wax can get in behind the stones, it could hold onto them and you either get colored wax stuck behind them that's very difficult to remove, or maybe even rip the stones out if they're not held very securely.
