I was watching the RAF Cosford Airshow this year live online, the F35B of the RAF did perform a role demo for the first time but it wasn’t an aerobatic display like this here. It only did the following: 1. A fast pass on military power thrust incorporated by a left turn 2. A slight knife edge pass with afterburner 3. A combat turn mainly on military power with some afterburner 4. A vertical climb with afterburner incorporated by a 7g tight turn 5. A max high alpha pass whilst flapping it’s two side back wings and tilting it’s yaw 6. A slow moving pass with lifting fan and exhaust nozzle down 7. At least a minute doing a hover demo near the spectators 8. Finishes the show with a zoom climb (not vertical climb like the Typhoon) P.S According to the F35B here in this video, now that’s an aerobatic display rather than a role demo, hopefully the RAF finds an incredible skilled pilot to perform like this F35B of the USMC in the future

The B variant is the most complex and expensive design of the three variants. It’s also the least maneuverable with shortest range. But putting that aside, it truly is a marvel of engineering.

No internal gun. It is supposed to replace the AV8 to provide CAS to ground forces. But at least the USMC gets a shiny new toy instead of the usual hand me downs.

I live right next to lockheed and all I can say is that I am very impressed with the F35s they're flying out here. They seem to have a lot of power and I see them turning pretty tight circles with f16s occasionally. Great engines and extreme engineering at work. I feel like people calling it fat or ugly are really not spending enough time around them.

It is fat and ugly, but so am I and I am a fantastic pilot, very smart and I communicate well. I am also high maintenance and expensive, and not as well liked as my bigger, sleeker brother. That's life.

The B version has more weight, tougher landing gear, less fuel (and range), and lower g-rating. That said, it is a marvel of engineering.

The most advanced fighter aircraft ever created, the F35b. Killer!

I got a little late to see this performance . I belive I was on my way to the parking lot (still on my car) thinking it was an F-22. I did not have the chance to see the Hoovering. I am glad someone Captured and shared.

This is the same squadron that paid NAFEC a surprise visit earlier this month! Spencer Hughes captured the amazing, golden hour practice demo. If VMFAT-502 will potentially be a demo team, that would be awesome! 👌🔥🇺🇲

Imagine levitating like that but in mesosphere, termosphere.

I keep thinking, "there is a Marine in that thing," and it boggles my mind. We live in a strange universe.

Unfortunate that the B has a 7g limit so it doesn't stress the lift fan components... The C has a 7.5 limit like most navy aircraft because of the folding wings. The A can crank and bank to 9+!

Seeing this demo and comparing it to the crash I think that F-35 in texas was hovering too low for too long

Is there a time-limit for hovering ????
@justintime41776 Жыл бұрын
I think the pilot did something wrong. I seriously doubt it was mechanical failure.
@jamesbartlett5640 Жыл бұрын
Looked like it hit the deck to hard when it landed as it bounces back up the one that crashed, then it was on the front nose gear which couldn't handle the weight so collapsed.

That was a dusty landing
@jamesbartlett56408 ай бұрын
Didn’t realise F-35B could do all that as well as it’s only limited to 7G compared to F-35A 9G, also didn’t seem to hoover long unlike what Harriet did.
@n3v3rforgott3n96 ай бұрын
The F35B is limited to 7g just like the Harrier... just as the F35C is limited to 7.5g just like the F18...
