Alberto Hinojosa you can get it for that but it’s only the bag, no straps, no hub supports, no lid, no radio pouch. Nothing but the bag. Like a garage bag.

Just to add for your viewers, the handles on the sides are to put the bag on. You don't sling it one shoulder strap at a time because it can put too much stress on it. You rotate the straps outside the handles, grab the handles from within, then lift it upside down and over your head like the old alice packs. It's actually very easy with even a heavy pack and will let the pack drop right on with the straps in the right place and evenly stressed. It's a good feature if you know what it's for.

That's funny i load my pack up to 65 pounds and hike with it all the time, Also that hydro pouch is made by Source way better then camelbak. It's also missing the assault pack which would go in that flap on the front of the pack. The dude really had no clue about that pack. Just saying if your reviewing and product know about it before you review it. Other then that subbed and looking forward to more videos

This is an awesome pack! Used it for a 6 day hiking trip as well as an overnighter on the Pacific Crest Trail. I'm 6'4" tall and it can be adjusted to any height. You can remove the two aluminum back braces to remove additional weight. The pouch underneath the camelbak is for a folding shovel. The two side pouches are great for water bottles, but because they are too far back, you need to remove the pack to access them. The cover pouch (butt pack) is great for small items such as toiletries, map & compass, water filter, snacks, etc. Great video!

+Will Butler actually the pouch underneath the camelback is for a "day pack" that used to come with the ILBE. It's like a 1 or 2 day assault pack. I was first introduced to the ILBE after boot camp when I got to Camp Lejeune. Good times, hahahahahaha!

I think this pack is a great pack for the price. I paid $65.00 shipped from eBay and I am extremely happy with the pack. I have been hiking all over the US for the past few years now and have no complaints about it. I hiked over 13 miles with 40lbs of gear on my back and this pack did not disappoint me in its reliability and toughness( given 3 miles were strait up a mountain side) in my opinion this pack is a awesome pack and now I use it as my Bug out bag. Great vid by the way thought it was cool and I agree it is strap happy.

You can actually use the hydration "diaper" section to lash your MSS to the outside of the pack, freeing up space inside your pack. Works well for me.

First off I like you videos man. Keep em coming. Secondly, an IBLE is more of an INCH bag instead of a BOB or GHB. It is simply too big. I was an 0351 in the corps and a 140lb pack (Alice) at 108+ temps for over 25 miles at a time was the norm. At my current age I simply can't do that anymore as well as most people that are 40+years old. As with all gear remember to test it thoroughly. Pack it full and then try going discreetly with it. Very hard to do and is really an acquired skill at best. A smaller pack makes a better BOB. I prefer a CFP 90 but then again everyone is a pack hound and has a personal favorite for each task at hand. Trust the online reviews with a grain of salt. Simply put most people have little "salt" and even more are not worth their weight in salt. Today's military is full of whiney kids but I still support em ! All packs are too big and uncomfortable until your in combat. You'll need them and be happy for a small moment that you did bring that kitchen sink with you....Then it all sucks again shortly...lol.

I know this is a seriously late addition in the comments... but, I never cared for the shoulder or waist straps. I use an eberlestock pack for hunting and needed to replace a broken buckle, I looked at their website and found they also sell their waist and shoulder straps separately. I bought them and with minimal effort, they fit my gen2 great and are far more comfortable for me. The price is better then the used replacement parts on ebay and for me are far more comfortable

I've had mine for a few years now. All of the zippers have a heavy Paracord line inserted in a pice of fuel line. Makes for getting into it a breeze, in the dark or with heavy gloves on. There is also a zipper the runs up the side so you can get into the main section of the bag without having to go in from the top. I also like the dividor you can setup in the main section of the bag. If you do pack it heavy the back and hip suppout system is fantastic.

While i dislike the spokesshill vibe of this video, i love this pack too much (i am getting one before Spring) and the price listed here is an INSANELY good price for the pack! Some places charge $100 for a used one - without the lid or radio pouches! It really is an amazingly well-designed and intensely versatile pack, can't wait to get mine and load it up with INCH gear. There's so many smart features on this pack, it's really worth reading up on (though it would likely have been a 45 minute video!)

The radio pouch is a separate bag from that top pouch as well . The lrrp units have an over plate of cordura to further compress loads too for this ilbe , as well as there is a medic pack you can switch out for the std , 3 day strap on pack too . Only difference is the medic pack has more organized internal zipped and velcroed dividers to further segregate and organize your gear .

You should put a disclaimer for tall people. I am 6'3" with a long torso and the ILBE is too short for me. I went with the Arcterx Bora 95 long. Anyone over 6' 3" don't even try to find one that fits. I tried and they will not be long enough for the hip belt to actually fit on your hips. It ends up arround your belly button about 4 inches above your regular belt. It is a very good pack for people 6 foot maybe 6'1" and under. Arcterx made that pack for the USMC. For those who can actually carry a "load" the Arcterx Bora 95 will carry 110 liters or 120 lbs of equipment inside the bag very comfortably for the MAN capable of carrying that load.

Not sure if they still teach this in the Corps but we use to use large glad sealable bags to waterproof gear. It also turns your bag into a floatation device. It works I've done it even with an alloy pack frame. Cool looking pack though and great price. I still use my large ALICE pack though, I'm old school corps.

Thanks for making a great video. I bought the ILBE pack at a gun show last summer for $65, I ordered the smaller pack on ebay with the matching tarp for $40. What a great system for my desert hikes. The pack weighs about 6lbs and I only take another 13lbs in total. I try to keep everything to 20lbs tops. I carry a rifle that straps to the side and I carry a glock in the shovel pouch (trojan horse). I just love the way the pack fits me. Im 6'4 and weigh 240. brushing against cactus or thorns so not effect the pack. The marines should have kept this on in service. I tried the army Molle and It was goddam awful. Semper Fi

I have this pack system and it is a fantastic pack. But the Assault pack is missing that straps on the outside over the hydration system. The "Radio Bag" is also missing. it straps on the top of the INSIDE of the bag. What he was calling the radio bag is really only the lid and was never designed to be removed. It is missing a few components of the system but sounds like it is a decent deal still.

Get the straps where you want them, use black tape to make that tag ends of the pack straps nice and neat. My straps are set and do not hang out like spaghetti. I have 2 of these complete with extra water bladders and the assault packs. Although the MARPAT side pouches are as rare as hens teeth there are some nice side pouches in jungle camouflage available that will hold several MREs in each one. a nice addition, but like he said it can get really heavy really fast with all that space. There are side zippers and an internal flap to separate the top from the bottom. Put the sleeping bag in one compartment and your personal gear in the other(below I guess). In any case an outstanding pack. You already paid for these with your taxes, get one now.

Mark..... I like the ILBE but the reason why I did not purchase one is lack of out side pockets. My choice was a Red Rock diplomat pack. Pushing 54 liters with 3 one liter attachment and made of 600 denier material. Bottom line is any pack over 50 liter is a good bug out bag. We carried the M-60 on the ILBE so I know they can haul a shit load of equipment.

Also when it is fully loaded u stand at the top of the pack with the pack laying on the ground with the belt pointing up..then you grab the side handles and lift itup over your head and when u let go of the handles your arms should slip into straps and slide down onto your back.

Oh it's a great pack... For the first month or so... Try carrying it with 90 pounds in it for 22 miles. You soon discover every little thing there is to hate about that pack. I prefer the ALICE pack, more lower back support. Easier to get back to the standing position from the prone or seated positions. This from a Marine Corps Infantry Veteran.

$57 is a good price for a complete main ruck with the lid ( you normally see them missing the lid/top pocket for that price, but they should come as the complete system with the APB03 Assault Pack, radio pouch ( assault pack is typically another $60, radio pouches are $5 on Amazon all day, that lid pocket is not the radio pouch), and 100 oz hydration bladder to go in the carrier. The ILBE pack liner/dry bag is usually another 30, but they should be sold as a complete system. All in all tho, good deal on the main ruck with the lid and bladder carrier, as you typically see them for $130-$170 for what's shown here as they are getting stupidly phased out for the not as good and not as comfortable FILBE. This, along with the Dutch Alpine Lowe Saracen and especially the Savotta Sarma TST RP 80, are my favorite "carry all the stuff you want" rucks. If they'll carry a ton, they'll carry a bit and everything in between. If you can find them, the Recon assault pack ( especially the medic version ) and, even better, the entire ILBE Recon system, is cooler ( but hard to find and crazy expensive ), the recon assault pack is much bigger than the APB03 with more MOLLE and big enough to be a great 72 hour main ruck on it's own, especially if you're smart with the MOLLE

Not liking pockets, because you have to dig around to find stuff and it's confusing, but liking the bucket, to where you have to dig around to find stuff, because " your the one who packed it..." Does not compute. Having things organized, into compartments, I.e. " pockets " is the most sensible option... I have a tool pocket, a food pocket, a medical pocket...etc...not confusing, but well thought out and organized, easy to find.

Try laying it on the ground. Distribute the contents what will be up-down while wearing. Cinch up the compression straps along the sides. This will bring your center of gravity in tight and will be even more comfortable.

This is a very sturdy pack, although I wouldn't use it as a bug-out bag or load it with too much equipment. Maybe a 100% lean and mean Marine would, but I only use it for camping trips with my wife, as she likes to bring extra "comforts" that I could care less about. I load it with just food items and clothing for my wife, as well as our sleeping bag/tent/tarps/etc. I probably only load it to about 40lbs or so, depending on how long our trip is, and use my other small/medium pack for equipment. On my own, I only use a simple blanket roll and knapsack. I'd rather have energy to hunt/trap/scout/fish/etc, then use it all up traveling to your location carrying gear you don't actually need, but want and think might come in handy. Someday, I need to "forget" it and try to get my wife used to smoothin' it. All in all a good pack, as expected being made for the USMC.

Hey Chris, imo your best referral (next to the MMSS). A bombproof piece of gear though a tad heavy. My pack has attatched loops on each strap to keep 'em tidy. Not surprised Will missed that since his reviews overall are not very detailed. Not hate'n Will but you'll get better if channel viewers expect better. Of all the YT ILBE reviews, yours is the most cursory. No matter, since the sleep system and pack basically sell themselves with a little help from Chris and Jason. Jason is the best and really treated me well. Glad I got the MMSS and the ILBE. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Thanks Chris for a great review and hookup. I just got the pack in the mail from SSS today and it is just as awesome as your video describes. Really fast shipping out here in IL. My problem is what and how to pack this damn thing and not go overboard. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to see any BOB packing list items and placement in this pack. As for your other reviewer's (simonferrer ) comment, I'm also an Army guy and reluctantly replaced my Army Alice Pack with this USMC ILBE. All I can say is, I'm glad i did. This ILBE pack is much lighter and built with better quality stitching and materials. Additionally, I'm running a black mountain smith rain cover over the entire thing, so not going to see the USMC woodland camo anyway ;)

This is the Arc'Teryx bora 95 pack in camo, and with a lot of PALS webbing, and heavier (720D vs 500D) fabric. The nice thing about these packs, is that if you have a very long torso like I do, these fit very, very well. It's difficult to find pack with a long enough torso for me, but this one adjusts right where I need it. With the Arc'Teryx design, it's made for backpackers. Guys in the Corps hate this pack because it sucks while wearing heavy plate armor, the hip belt doesn't integrate with amor well (it doesn't on any pack, which is why most military packs don't put much effort into the hip belt design). The up side is, for those of us that don't intend to walk around in 50 pounds of armor, these are extremely comfortable, while being heavier duty than "civilian" packs. The other thing is most military packs, including aftermarket military like Kifaru, are 1000D fabric and weigh 2.5-3 pound more than this pack empty. For a comfortable hiking pack that is tough, this can't be beat. One final tip: Go to Supply Captain (www.supplycaptain.com/) and buy a pack of ITW web dominators -- they quickly and easily secure all those loose straps and quickly adjust as you adjust the straps on the pack.

I bought one and hated it. The thing is way too heavy, and made my gear feel like I added 20 pounds. You actually have to have a lot of gear for these backpacks, or it wont sit right. The top piece requires that the bag is completely full, in order to sit properly. I hated that, because I don't carry that much gear, even in a Bug out situation. I tried everything to compress that bag, but it just wouldn't work. I eventuality traded it for the ARCTERYX USMC MARPAT ILBE ASSAULT PACK 3 DAY BACKPACK which works and feels so much better.

replace all the zipper pulls with para cord - tape off excess straps - get a waterproof poncho to cover it and make it more waterproof. get the 2 can system of NEVERWET - spray the 2 step system on the bottom of the bag and the outside - best water proofer ever - pack is too big unless you're used to marching with them for days on end - if you sit on your ass for a day job - this is not the pack for you.

A lot of good here even the BIG part you can quickly increase the weight with non-priority items. TIP for the reviewer guy Please research the proper way to put a heavy large pack on, NOTE; never swing it over one shoulder then the other. those handles are there to assist in lifting the pack over head allowing BOTH strap's to fall onto your shoulders at the same time, its so much easier. All in all good review great pack I've had the old alice the old ilbe and now the complete newer system with all the ad-ons including the assault pack, like them all, the newer i like a little better, you just have to properly adjust it to fit like any other pack you can't just put it on and expect it to fit properly.

Hey gentleman good review I will add that I have had thus pack for a year now and love every inch of it One great point you didnt add was the quick release emergency shoulder straps. They are a key asset fo quickyly dropping fhe weight from your persons. Cheers brothers Sincerely Me

Um, the waste strap on a backpack is meant to take the majority of the pack weight not the shoulder straps, shoulder straps are meant to keep the pack from leaning backwards. Thumbs up on the comment about those stupid excessive modular pockets on most tacticool packs. Wow those straps look a bit ridiculous.

Looks like a great pack really. Shame I recently got the Kelty Falcon 4000. It's a trail pack but had a tacticool look and feel. A lot like this pack actually. Thanks for the review.

Just talked to Jason at Sams Surplus. He said that they have a few of the bags left and only a couple of the MMSS in stock. He said that the pack he has are not in the best shape but the cost is only $68.00 with all the parts. The sleep system is running $124.00. Chris, I love your channel bro. Thank you so much for all you share. Just getting into prepping and shared your channel with all my army/marine buddies. On a side note, my Marine buddy said that he carried this pack and loved it when he was enlisted. He now carries a civilian bag that in his opinion is close to this bag in overall capabilities. Its called the Kelty Redcloud 6650LE. If you want the capability without the military look, its a good choice. Here is one I found www.sierratradingpost.com/kelty-red-cloud-backpack-6650-le-~p~85745/

I want to get one as well. I have the assault pack, and it is really comfortable when I use it for work. You make a good point that these packs aren't meant to carry too much heavy gear. Have you ever tried out any mystery ranch back packs?

That is not a bug out bag. Other than the combat deployment pack of the Corps something that big is a refugee or displaced citizen bag. And that old adage about a large pack is always filled will definitely come to fruition with something that huge mounted on your backside. Which will lead you to understand an old saying within the Marines. Ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain. Even the old Army molle 2 pack is excessive. If you need anything larger than a small or even a medium alice ruck sized pack you're gonna carry too much weight with to much useless gear. But to each their own I suppose. Good video BTW. I enjoyed it.

I agree. Thats why I said half of it needs to be sleep system and clothes, not gear. Gear gets heavy FAST.

I agree. I remember humping with these big ass packs during boot simply because they were big ass packs. pretty much every bit of gear you could fit in it was put in it and that's not a good thing on the back at all. They're comfortable enough to carry around long distances if packed right but why pack what you don't need in the first place. After boot and doing foot patrols and things I don't remember ever seeing anyone have a pack even half this big. Like you said, it's a refugee pack. not meant to take on patrols and used for long periods of time. It's more of a place to store your gear to get it to a site and then break it down into smaller bags from there to carry with you from a central point, or as the video points out just a sleep system and maybe some clothes and food. nothing heavy should be in a pack this large.

Very few ppl will honestly practice that sort of discipline. Ppl will pack that one extra convenience item because it won't add that much extra weight, so on and so forth. Eventually ending up with a 2 ton brick on their back! What MOS devil? I was a 1371 Combat Engineer.

Started off as an 0311 for 6 years and then I broke my hand and screwed up some nerves. Then I was moved to 0811 arty for the last two years. I'm certainly glad I was. it's not much easier than infantry but it did make it a bit easier on the body. If I could go back and do it all over I would have enlisted as arty. Better to be a pog then a bullet sponge. lol

For an individual person, I agree. I am doing a review of mine soon as a bugout bag. I am a single father and this bag is perfect for me. I have the assault pack too and keep it as my car bag and this is my B.O.B. If things were bad enough I'd even marry them up. It was an ok review though.

You don't really need the dry bag. I alway carry everything in the main compartment in an industrial strength garbage bag. You just seal that and its waterproof. In emergencies the bag can be used ti carry water too. It looks like a decent pack, I am a big guy & have a long torso. I've always liked big packs as I am a "Mule". I carry large amounts for long periods. I have to disagree with Will because for me the more pouch's the better. I have worked out a system over the years & dedicating a pouch to a separate need is perfect. Throwing it all into one big hole is a pain the butt. You try looking for one item in a 80-90lb pile of gear. Back when I was learning my system it was easy to put a piece of pale colored tape on the outside of the pouch and use a sharpie to mark the main content of that pouch. ie first aid, clean clothes (socks & shorts), snacks, fire & cooking, rope & paracord etc Btw the IBLE comes in 3 sizes. large, medium and small

I am having issues with my ILBE pack lid. When I pull the top drawstring closed, and then fold over the lid, the front edge of the lid slides back over the top of the frame ends, exposing the top of the pack that its supposed to cover. Is this common, or a design issue? Thanks, Great video.
