I have some of his original design schematics and copies of component blueprints for these redundancy systems. My dad built the A10. May he RIP. He once told me, building it to carry all that ordinance, and getting it in the air to do its job was the ‘not so difficult’ part. Adding every redundancy possible to get the pilot home was the ‘more so difficult’ part. One example: If all steering and control went out, the pilot could reach under the seat and fly the craft manually with those cables beneath. 18 months ago, at 91 my dad passed. the A10 is out dated and would get shredded by modern AA and A2A equipment. It's really that simple. The idea is to prevent the necessity of a Warthog providing close air support. The F35 can destroy factories, munitions, and oil deposits and completely prevent ever needing to fight the war in the first place. This is where "modern war" is going.

F-35s cost around 30,000 an hour to operate vs an A-10 at 6000$ an hour. Even the f-16 is way more cost efficient at 8,000 an hour. Compared to over 80 million now to build an F-35 and that’s only 2020 prices, the plane cost twice that two years ago. We could steal back all the f-14s from Iran update them with all the latest F-35 avionics and still be way ahead in costs compared to F-35 stupidity.

Very true. The first time I took notice of them was when one provided CAS (Close Air Support) to our convoy when we were ambushed. Shortly after, I saw someone at one of the larger camps wearing a A10 patch. When I asked him if he worked with them, he said it was "The best job in the military" told me (with pride) that all he does is waits for us (ground forces) to get in a bad spot so he can go and get rid of said spot. Always comforting to know a couple of these were in the neighborhood.

The F-35 has its roles and the A-10 has its roles. The F-35 cannot loiter at low speed above the ground forces, aiding them at their request, like the A-10. The A-10 cannot dogfight. So each platform has its own Niche. To win a war, you need both.

It can hover, so in theory it could use apache type combat tactics to fire from behind conver. Im sure thats what the sales team said to the suckers swapping them. Diffrrence is, 1 shot will kill an f35, to kill an A10 you need to waste 3 flight systems, both engines, the entire tail, both wings or kill a pilot sitting in a titanium bathtub. Then firepower, the A10 can cut a battleship in half with its cannon, has enough bomb capacity to level a small city. The F35 simply doesnt do that...

The A-29 is a more modern prop engined attack plane that couldn’t be shot down with Infrared Homing missiles (heat seekers) for obvious reasons. No need for flares when you’re not in a jet. The A-29 is much cheaper, could stay in flight longer with less fuel than the A-10, and could dogfight although it’s not primarily designed to do so. The twin .50 caliber machine guns have a much greater chance of killing terrorists than the single 30mm cannon. The A-10 is slower than the P-51 mustang so why not have a cheaper alternative and use a piston engine aircraft? Your country wouldn’t need to tax the life out of people to kill other people.

Should make difference between manufacturing cost and maintenance/running cost. A10's maintenance cost against F35's total cost, it will be hard for F35 to win. If on the ground there are 100xak47 shooting a burst, how is F35 after flying through the cloud of bullets? A10 can go close, because of armor.

​actually, considering the capabilities of the a10, it doesnt actually need to get within ak47 range. it can hit targets well beyond the range of any rifle regardless of what kind it is. same thing goes for the f35. thing is, the a10 is actually pretty capable. some f35 apologists might say that the a10 doesnt have stealth, therefore its no good for modern warfare. well.. truth is, the f35 isnt nearly as stealthy as an f22, and for close air support, stealth is good to have, but is not a requirement for success. just like an f35, an a10 can do high altitude strikes with guided bombs and missiles. manpads and autocannons wont even scratch an a10 if its hitting them with maverick missiles 10 miles away. stealth matters less for close air support. an f35 can be detected at such close range anyway. might as well abandon stealth and prioritise firepower and survivability like on the a10

It has all the qualifications of a living, deadly predator, a brain (computer), strength and power, fangs and stinger and it's heart-beat is in the pilot's chest inside its cockpit! Can't be much more alive than that! You can FEEL THE LIFE in the machine as you fly her! There's very little like it! Sort of like being perched on the top of a race-horse at top speed! Hot and very alive; you can feel the heat and the heart-beat right up through the saddle! Same with the Warthog, a flying Gatling with 7 barrels that can shoot 70 rounds per second -- Brrrrttttttt and you're gone and the Hog is on its way home!

The engines were NOT mounted up top to allow the aircraft to takeoff and land on rugged/dirty runways. The first prototypes had an issue with stalling whenever the aircraft shot its main gun (the exhaust from the gun into the engine intake was the issue). The engines were moved up top to avoid this issue, and had the added benefit of protecting the engines from groundfire. How do I know? 1) My father worked at Republic Aviation in Farmingdale NY, when/where they were built. 2) I have worked in aviation manufacturing for over 17 yrs. I wish before making these videos, people would check their facts. One cool fact about the A-10. The titanium "bathtub" was made from Russian titanium. The Soviets had the only titanium mines capable of supplying such a large order. They did not consider it a military grade metal, because they could not weld it. Republic Aviation had figured out that you could weld titanium in a vacuum. Some great engineering was done on Long Island NY. A-10, F-14, Lunar Lander, E-2, EA-6B, and more.

Seating for two, a place to stretch and put a thermos, a small place to pee and even on longer sorties, there is enough space behind the seats for one of you to take a short nap. And a 2,500mi ferry range And a 1000mi combat range? And the ability to do air land or sea? And take off from a carrier if need be? Su-34 is best boi. No exceptions

The last time I heard they were thinking about retiring the A-10, they ordered new wings for most of them instead. It has one intangible feature that the F35 hasn't earned yet. It is the most feared attack plane in our arsenal. It is hard to take into account how it affects morale of our troops and that of our enemies when one of them is spotted over the battlefield.
