Congrats, i would also add using FA as the review source a month before the test, reading pathology disorders from every organ systems multiple times, will help alot in the exam. Especially if it is annotated. Also confidence.

What was your daily schedule for studying for step 1 and how much time you took to prepare for step1 ?
@ChrisQuelch

About 1 year of studying, 6 months of grinding practise questions. I wish I had started questions earlier.

Thanks for your effort in this vedios I’m in the beginning of second year,is it appropriate time to start studying for step 1?
@ChrisQuelch
@ChrisQuelch 2 жыл бұрын
Its a bit early, if I was you I would start reviewing high yield resources like sketchy just to get ahead. TBh ebst thing you can do right now is study whatever youre doing now in Uni as best you can. Good fundamentals go a long way on step.

Thanks for the video may I ask if u finished all of ur anking Anki cards at the start of the day before starting the block of questions to make sure ur up to the task? Thanks
@ChrisQuelch
@ChrisQuelch Жыл бұрын
At the beginning of my studying, I made sure to complete all my cards every day, but towards the end I shifted my focus towards question banks and just made sure I did 4 hours of anki every day. Most important is using anki to review your incorrects!

right now im trying to balance step 1 studying with clinical rotations. its a risk but its too late to go back, besides im in good pace right now but stuck in biochemistry qbanks review right now
@ChrisQuelch
@ChrisQuelch Жыл бұрын
I did it so I know where youre at, its definitely possible. Step down to an easier q-bank like USMLE Rx if youre struggling. I bloody hated biochem and I only studied it via q-banks, made it a bit more interesting. Biochem sucks, it just does. Youll need to spend 2 weeks doing just biochem questions before you start to notice a difference.
@bootatoboo
@bootatoboo Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisQuelch i defenitly spent more days reviewing biochem qbanks than i did actually studying biochem. i got a 90% on my last biochem qbank and i moved on to micro. thank you so much!

Great video. Is uw enough to pass step1? Or should it be done along with fa? Wt do u suggest?
@ChrisQuelch
@ChrisQuelch Жыл бұрын
Uworld is more than enough to study step 1 as long as you finish it and remember what you got wrong. If youre using anki dont use first aid, if not you need the first aid book

is doing the all cards of anking deck (35k) a right deceision? or a waste of time and effort and I should go for a smaller deck..
@ChrisQuelch
@ChrisQuelch Жыл бұрын
I don't recommend studying the entire deck, its way too much. Check out my anki video for what I recommend, but I mostly just unsupend cards from incorrect practise questions.

Loved the content of this video, I do have a question, does it make sense to invest in another Qbank apart from Uworld? I've just started my prep and I am not confortable with going on the "random" mode. Also since Uworld has only a one time reset option is it wise for me to start solving another Qbank eg USMLERx and then going to Uworld?
@ChrisQuelch
@ChrisQuelch 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thank you for saying so. I am a big fan of starting with Uworld, it will take longer than you think to finish, don’t use that as a reason to not start! If you do finish you can reset Uworld or get Amboss. If you’re really uncomfortable start with timed non random and just do questions on the topic you are studying right now 😊 hope this helps!

how did you get through biochem, its ruining my life right now even tho i finished studying usmle biochem, i still can not answer questions.
@behdad9947
@behdad9947 6 ай бұрын
Don't read bichem! It doesn't work, treat biochem like the math! Gotta understand relationship between pathways and reactions! Gotta know why each pathway is happening and connect them to clinical aspects. When you think of biochem this way you'll find it easier

Would you recommend Kaplan,bnb or any of the high yield resources to someone who just began med school and is a usmle aspirant?if not what would you recommend for building a strong base
@ChrisQuelch
@ChrisQuelch 2 жыл бұрын
TBH I like boards and beyond for the fundamentals. But your medical school curriculum is the best way to build fundamentals. Use them together IMO.

what about tutor mode vs timed should every IMG do one round of tutor then second round of timed and random?
@ChrisQuelch
@ChrisQuelch 2 жыл бұрын
I’m a bit fan of timed random from the very beginning! I don’t think people should aim to do uworld twice but I understand some people might want to.
