I’m so glad I stumbled on this video. I’ve been using LDN for 4 months now, since I went to see a new functional doctor for mast cell activation dysfunction (MCAS). It was an absolute godsend, especially as I had covid in June and then again in December last year. I’m also epileptic. My histamines were flaring all the time and I couldn’t get a good night’s sleep. From the first night I took LDN, everything calmed down and I sleep like a baby now. I’m also so much more motivated and content in every way. I have a much better tolerance to exercise. It’s an amazing drug for anyone battling with nervous system or autoimmune disease.

I think a leaky gut is also a very real issue. I am currently doing the GAPS nutritional protocol. I started it Jan 2022 but was only able to stay on it for a few months before going to a low histamine diet because I just couldn’t incorporate a lot of the homemade probiotic rich foods that the protocol requires. However I wish I had just stuck with it because all the low histamine diet did for me was continue to take out foods until I was down to eating 8 foods! I should’ve pushed through SLOWLY the histamine intolerance issues. I have currently restarted with GAPS and have been on it for a month. So far so good, just going very slowly this time. The GAPS main source of fixing leaky gut is meat stock, (chicken broth) to seal and heal your gut lining, homemade probiotic foods, lots of high quality animal fats, tallow, lard, ghee. Now, I also got Covid in April 2021. I have long Covid and have been suffering since. I had all sorts of weird health issues for years prior to contracting Covid. Severe Congestion, diagnosed chronic, sinusitis and allergic rhinitis. This only got worse and more symptoms appeared after getting Covid. I have been taking Ivermectin for 3 weeks and am adding LDN today. I hope it helps! It’s a long prescription but hoping after I finish it, symptoms don’t return!

I used LDN when I contracted COVID in June 2020 and again in January 2022 and my immune system ran like a fine tuned Swiss Watch. I also used Sulforaphane which stops IL-6 as well. Used a couple of other things, but this last go around with COVID my low grade fever only lasted 36 hours or so. Had the sniffles for a few more days but no big deal. I'm 57 and not vaccinated and no underlying medical issues. LDN works and it has countless health benefits! Excellent video explaining the details!

LDN helps block gluten which you can do yourself, but hidden gluten is harder to avoid which LDN helps being a low dose. People may not realize gluten is hurting them. Those are the ones who infections may hurt more since gluten hurts the gut lining so less nutrients absorb like Zn/Mg. This vax/infection may lower Zn/Mg and many are not taking supplements or are gluten free which helps them absorb more nutrients. LDN helps the gut lining, by blocking gluten from making the immune system go down and do autoimmune attacks.

@@auggie1790 I had COVID in June 2020 and low grade fever of 99-100.8 for 12 days along with loss of sense of smell and taste for 4 of those days. Also had back pain that was pretty significant for about a week. I woke up on the 13th day with no fever and no symptoms except for fatigue that lasted another week or so. I am in the health field as well studying functional integrative medicine for the last 8 years and clinical exercise physiology for the last 27 years. I've been studying this virus since the day it hit the USA. There are other supplements I took that prevented replication and decreased viral load so I'm sure that had something to do with it. However, the LDN works very well too.

@@jeanniehorneman6965 LDN can be from any doctor who is open to giving it. Alternative doctors or psychiatrists or regular doctors can give it. It is from a compounding pharmacy and sent to the person. It is about $1 a day and is like s miracle to help health if taken before bed. Some take it earlier in the day since at night it may give too much energy. It helps heal the gut lining from gluten and helps the immune system not attack from gluten. It may cause some constipation, but people can drink more water or adjust the dose. There is a group on Facebook about LDN.

It stopped my long-COVID and NOH research also confirms efficacy. Works on many other immune and autoimmune diseases. Doesn’t work in all cases. Could be dosing or other issues, but it’s definitely worth a try and the side effect profile is minimal and can usually be handled by cutting the dose and then re-upping as your body gets used to it, I personally experience vivid dreams for a few days, one of the known side effects. No nightmares so I enjoyed myself and got good night sleep

It was a miracle drug for my long covid issues since december 2020. I was desperate to find someting other than antidepressant for the pain. Antidepressant were causing me more brain fog and weight gain. LDN took a while to kick in for the pain, but I felt better after a week! I had to lower the starting dose as I wad having headaches. But even at a low dose of .05, it was working. I'm thankful that my doctors are open minded enough to prescribe it even if it needs to be compounded.

@@lisamarie73100, I can give you one perspective. I've been looking into this for sometime now, and some people say it starts working the first day, but I see people saying try it for up to two months. For a neurological damage but I think it takes longer. Also, if you have unwanted side effects, you can try a lower dose. 4.5 is kind of in the middle of the range 0.5 to about 6 mg. Some people even go lower than 0.5. Please treat this as only one small source of information.

All of your discussions are great, but I had to comment on this one- outstanding teaching!! The way you presented this makes it so clear and easy to understand. Your visual drawings and verbal analogies such as "... imagine you are in a room half filled with water..." help to clarify concepts which may not be so easy to conceptualize. Not sure if teaching has been something you have worked on or it just came naturally, but either way we are lucky to have access to your wonderful teaching- thank you!!

Thank you Dr Been for this discussion. I’ve been on LDN for over 3 1/2 years, as prescribed by my alternative doctor, for fibromyalgia. It has to be made by a compounding pharmacy because LDN used for fibro is really used as an off-label drug, since it’s not actually FDA approved for autoimmune diseases and fibromyalgia. I have to pay a LOT for a 1-month supply x’s 12 (p/year). Maybe that has changed in the last few years…I will have to check with my doctor to see if I am able to get it through a regular pharmacy now. 🥰

Since you know so many people who have had good results, why are you so afraid? It's not like you're inexperienced on this subject. The doctor said to start out with a tiny dose and not go up, or be in no hurry to go up because that could cause side effects and to increase the dose slowly if side effects develop, back off. It's not like a doctor wouldn't be watching you.. Seems like getting control of MS symptoms would be worth a shot. You'll never know if it works for you without trying.

Please don't do that. When you take the right dose for you (1.5mg-4.5mg range) it blocks the receptors for the shortest most optimal time. Then your body is tricked into tripling your endorphins and increasing OGF/Met enkephalin up to 12-15 fold. If you keep dosing you will block the receptors for an extended period not allowing this rebound effect and the rebound effect to take place so your body won't have time to rebound and increase endorphin and ogf production.

Think about it. For example, when I was younger I found that I could eat 300-400 calories of lean meat, and not get hungry or think about food for 10 hours. Any fiber at the same calories bloated me and passed out of the stomach in 90 minutes, leaving me starving. My job was lifting 40 lb things all day and going up and down ladders. Thus, I learned that all plants were a waste of calories, because my goal, in the year 2000, was calorie counting to loose weight. So, a 1100 calorie day, cutting out foods with inadequate hunger satiation was a whole lot easier on a low carb diet. It is was also a lot easier to maintain the 60 lb in 6 month of weight loss. Hunger per calorie is the number one thing. For example, if you came out with a food that 100 calories stopped the hunger and gave all the energy you need for the next 24 hours, you would not compare a 1500 calorie diet of that food with 1500 calories of a balanced diet. That would be stupid. Just as stupid as this study. The idea of low carb is to keep the body burning fat, and not switch over to glucose burning beyond the glucose that the liver makes. It is also about keeping insulin low by zero carbs, or as low as possible. It is best to burn your own fat, which is why all diets can dip into a ketotic state. It is a matter of how much you are knocking yourself out of ketosis by eating sugar in any form, including carbs.. One diabetic doctor pointed out that he can make the thinnest person fat, by prescribing insulin.

I'm so excited to start my LDN. Should arrive in a few days. I was diagnosed with MS in 2013. Fatigue and chronic pain since 2016. Then worst decision of my life!!! Got Lasiks in 2020. As of today 3/9/23. I'm still in pain from Lasik complications. For the past year and a half I have kept my ocular pain at a tolerable pain level using blood serum eye drops. Literally overnight beginning of January 2023 my eyes started hurting severely like right after Lasik surgery pre ast drops. Felt like I had sun tan lotion in my eyes 24/7. Pain in eyes non stop I wanted to kill myself Literally. I told my Neurologist about my severe increase in ocular pain and ge suggested LDN. Right now I'm keeping the pain again at a somewhat manageable pain level using Lotemax eye gel in conjunction with platelet rich plasma eye drops. And wearing moisture chamber goggles I had to buy for 200 dollars. I'm praying this LDN may help if only a little.

At some point, however, more pain than before. Now I ask myself do you or someone else know something like that? And should I have dosed higher and or held out longer? Although Naltrexone helps to reduce MS symptoms, and improves quality of life, of wellbeing, the cause of the symptoms isn't addressed. As logic dictates, the unbalance in the physical system, nervous system, or tissue problems, the digestive system, may show itself by other symptoms. The body always tells us what's wrong, we only have to pay attention. I've known 4 women, most around 30, with MS, who all suffered from identity crisis, and became alienated from their bodies in a strange way. When we're not at home, burglars see their chance, see? The pain in my body tells me "You're not at home here".

Take a lower dose. Start with 0.5mg and work up from there. It has countless health benefits. Some people can't tolerate it because it makes them too fatigued during the day. When this occurs it's most likely due to mitochondrial dysfunction. Get more sunlight and take a couple of supplements called MitoQ and MitoPure. Once the body compensates with the LDN you should actually become a happier person with a greater outlook on life. Best of luck!

No gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO/food with a label/heated oils..taking vitamins/good oils/minerals...probiotic/LDN..detoxing may help. LDN alone is not strong enough to block all the gluten a person may eat. Best is to try to eat 100% no gluten and let the LDN which is a low dose block what is in air/hidden in food etc.. Unfortunately, this is a sort of trade off of modulating the immune system. People with chronic overactive immune systems (eg allergies, autoimmune disorders) take medicines that downregulate their immune system which in turn predisposes them to certain cancers. When you up regulate your immune system, you run the risk of developing allergies and these same autoimmune disorders. However, someone would not take LDN for 'long COVID' for long periods of time, so it's not a big concern.

Wherever already hurt is intensified especially in upper back between shoulder blades and shoulder lower spine and right abdomen. I dont want to stop it as hoping what i have read is true thst you can be much worse before better as it can clear out dorment disease in body. Is this true as Im not sure if should be stopping as reacting to it or if its because system just more inflamed while it stimulates immune system to cleat out what has been causing long term illness. Any advice. Also the headaches are insane but more bearable than the inflammation im feeling in lung and heart chest area. Feels a bit like pneumonia type pain and inflammation. The Best time to take it is between 8 and 9 PM. Because the majority of endorphins are produced between 2 and 4 AM. The Ldn blocks endorphin production for 4 to 6 hours. When the Ldn wear's off the body reacts by tripling endorphin production and this modulate the immune system. Peace

@@stefrzchicago that is only the arbitrary dose chosen by DrBihari back in 1985 as half way between 0 and 10mg. They knew zero of what DrBeen lectured about here, just opioids and endorphins. The UKLDN research institute still only considers the levo isomer which affects opioids and h3nce their max dose is 4.5 mg. And it’s point of maximum stimulation of the immune system and hence max reactions and also max immune modulation. A lot of pain people take 6 and over in the LDN range. I take 6 for asthma, one dose, had vegf attack on eyes while on steroids for 17 years and osteopenia and function of lungs reducing lungs by 70%. On 4.5 mg I had huge flooding mucus, so after looking at chart of isomer levo and dextrose isomer actions on dosing, took 6 mg and overnight the extreme flood of mucous stopped. 4.5mg was putting me into copd. I did not have the mucus problem before.

@@howardcalpas2322 that’s because the LDN institute does not know about the dextro isomer which dr been talks about, whose effects are directly dose dependent, only the levo, the opioid receptor affecting isomer which has max effect at 4.5 then drops off. Stuck in 1985. . Peace.

As an ex-opiate addict and a sober alcoholic, maybe I should get on this medication.

yeah get a script for addiction and then compound it into smaller dosages. from what I have seen the larger doses won't work, why its called LDN. not HDN

So glad to see this video! I was taking LDN back in 2010/11 for MS lesions. I had to stop taking it because doc wouldn’t prescribe any more. Mainly because I wouldn’t take the injections, I’m thinking. All those kick backs lol

Still taking no traditional MS treatments (injections, immunomodulators), yet MRI 2 weeks ago show no new lesions! In the 14 years since diagnosis, 24 since first almost certain MS symptom, NO progression! I’m convinced it was my diet that was making it worse, and I radically changed that since diagnosis. I only eat meals once a day, and a protein bar for brunch. I’m thinking eating whatever is fine, but very little of it. I basically “fast” most of the day every day. Wish I could say I’m feeling GREAT, but the damage has been done from lesions/scaring, so not likely to get rid of fatigue/temperature sensitivity/random muscle weakness, but I’ve learned how to manage and it’s not getting worse. LDN could potentially heal lesions, but not if I can’t get it. I’m at risk at the moment of losing the one thing that overcomes fatigue which is vyvanse, because my insurance doesn’t cover the one doc willing to prescribe and I’m racking up $150 bills every time I see her, every 3 months. That clinic has already sued me for past bill owed and I have to pay them. That’s been my life for many years now. It is what it is I guess.

@@lucyswannsunsafespace7313 I heard that some people are getting LDN for as little as $15 a month!? Don’t give up! I know LDN helped me get back to feeling great again! I used it for 2 months.

Yes, exercise doesn't do what it used to when you have long covid. Yyyyup. Was an active nurse, zumba instructor, hiker, skier, etc. Feel it....23 months.

Thank you so much Dr been. Am going to approach doctors (again) armed with this information and see if I can finally get started on something to help break the cycle, having had LC since March 20 with many obvious symptoms pertaining to this pathway but no pro-active help. Just told nothing can be done & ivm not available yet nothing else suggested. I suggested it was mcas a year ago but wasn't heard. Just gave up. Meanwhile a year more of potential damage has been done. Bless you for all you do and have done, and I'm so pleased you and your family have recovered 🙏❤️ Well I didn't get any where! Told naltrexone only available in 50 mg. Now have the new omicron on top of LC. Struggling. On day 12. Left to suffer again. Don't know who to buy ivm or ldn from online. GP prescribed codeine for head pain which my body reacted badly to so am stuck taking paracetamol. Trying homeopathic remedies. Take high dose vit d and zinc. Complete lack of motivation to be pro active to treat covid in the uk. Left to your own devices unless unlucky enough to end up in hospital. They're not even debating ivm or other treatments. They're just apathetically waiting for the powers that be to tell them to do something. How can they let people suffer unnecessarily?? Without even trying to help?

It only comes in a nasal spray in 4mg but not in a pill. I’m not sure if he covered that but that’s what we have in Canada so not sure if that helps you.

You have to have a compounding pharmacy make the LDN for you. Make sure the pharmacy does not use the slow release form of naltrexone because you will not get the therapeutic benefits in the SR form.

@@bigbugz2056 thank you. I guess I will have to have a prescription from the doc for the pharmacy to make up and not sure they'll give me one. Will try. And also try to source a compounding pharmacy online.

What are the effects of LDN on blood clotting ? For example, if you have someone that's on a blood thinner, example eliquis. Is there literature to signify that LDN stabilizes blood clotting or makes it go up or go down, or doesn't work that way? Would appreciate a response and love your show! :-)
