They’re still one of the best teams in the world and always will be simply because they produce so many amazing players. The Germany game was a nightmare for them, but they were pretty average in that tournament and met a Germany team that was firing on all cylinders. Brazil let their heads drop and basically gave up trying once they were 3/4 nil down. Its not easy always being made the favourites and they’ve not always had the depth of quality you’d expect from them. Look at Germany, they too have had some woeful performances at recent tournaments, but do look good right now at the Euros where they’ve already qualified for the knockout stages after winning their first two games convincingly.

Remember this is just a friendly and no more than a warm up game before the Copa starts. Players are playing at 60/70% to avoid picking up silly injuries. If this was in the knockout stages of the tournament I’d be shocked if was 1:1 after 90 minutes. Brazil would probably win it comfortably tbh. They’re not in the same league.

I think that was a great use of VAR. They determined a clear error on the ref to give an un deserved free kick. We need more of this to correct bad errors from refs that would otherwise potentially sway the outcome of a game. Well done by the crew on this.

Not saying they're elite but our talent and depth of AMERICAN players has improved drastically over the last 8 years. Pulisic was arguably Milans best player this season with 25 goal contributions and voted best 11 in league. Mckennie with Juve was one of the better midfielders in the league. Tyler Adams was insane for Leeds in 2022, had most tackles behind Paulhinha despite missing 1/4 of the season but hes been really unlucky with injuries. Reyna is elite and will come good (hes 21), hes also been unlucky with injuries and competing with Reus/Brandt. Antonee Robinson just got player of the season for Fulham. Dest was insane for PSV, Weah and Musah regularly feature for Juve/Milan. Haiji Wright and Josh Sargent had 16 goals in Championship (1 behind Jamie Vardy with 10 less games played). Cardoso with Betis (and hes a backup),Tillman, Aaronson, Richards, Pepi, CCV -- the list goes on. If you told me we would have this team with these players playing at this level in top 5 leagues 8 years ago I would laugh. Yes, Dest, Balogun and Robinson arent full blown Americans but who the fuck is in this melting pot of a country? This whole narrative that the USA is only getting better because they've recruited dual nats is laughable propaganda.

We got close to beating Brazil this past week. This team is exciting, and is super close to becoming an actual contender. We will keep going further than what people see us going. main issue is consistency. They have the capacity to play well (even with berhalter), they just are extremely coinflip. I feel like half the time they show up to games they look like they don't even care about winning. Looks like a combination of mindset and drive to ACTUALLY prove a point tbh. If they put their mind to it, they can play well. For example, this game they wanted a chance at redemption to the 5-1 loss to colombia, but like why was the 5-1 loss a thing anyway, you know what I mean? Very weird team, but they definitely have enough talent and the capacity to be good. Not QUITE as talented as other national teams and the roster isn't quite as deep either, but that can sometimes be made up with resolve and character. We'll have to see.

I’m from England and don’t know the US squad that well, but I’d drop musah and have Reyna mckennie and pulisic as a three in midfield make them stretch the width in possession (pulisic and Robinson look like the link up well down that left side) and then get them to come more compact without the ball and I’d go weah pepi and balogun as a front three

Its a friendly warm up game before the Copa starts. No one in the Brazil team is playing at 100%. They just wanted to make sure no one picked up any silly injuries and the manager can take a look at some of the more fringe players. The starting line up at the Copa will be very different. The US has a tough group which includes Uruguay, Bolivia and Panama. You should beat Panama but you’ll do well to get even a point from the other two.

You have a tough group to qualify from and they will need to start cautiously and not give away cheap early goals or its an uphill battle from there. Uruguay is a top nation with some quality strikers and Bolivia are also very dangerous. I do expect you to beat Panama however and not impossible to get a point from one of the other two if the defence stays switched on.

Brazilian players are too independent now. There’s little chemistry and cohesion with them. Back when they had Dinho, R9, Cafu, Kaká, Edmilson, Roberto Carlos, and Adriano, it was Joga Bonito every year for the longest time. Now it’s gotten to a point where everyone doesn’t even fear them anymore

Wait and see how they perform at the Cops before casting judgement. This was a meaningless friendly warm up game where Brazil were playing at 60/70% and making sure no one picked up any silly injuries. You judge a team on how it performs when it matters in the big games. Brazil barely qualified for the 2002 WC and lost a few of their warm up games only to end up winning it and Ronaldo getting the golden boot with 8 goals.
