Adrien is 21 years old. We don't know if he is a rising star but he is n°80 in ITTF rankings and he is improving a lot.He has a very good backhand that allow him to progress.

Ma Lin began walking even before the last ball touched the table ? Beautiful game by Adrian. Ma Lin was distinctly uncomfortable throughout. Interestingly the weak point of Ma Lin is the strong point of Mattenet - backhand. Mattenet also handled some deep shots commendably.

it's amazing... Mattenet's overall speed completely matches that of the Chinese.. All he needs is a little more consistency, but he's got what it takes to be no 1. I honestly dont understand why he is only ranked 86th.

I've just seen the video mattenet vs oh , they developed a good game, Mattenet didn't get his chance when he dominated 9-7 in the last set.He should improve his forehand contrary to other young players to go further...

@marczzz10 You have to be aware that at this time, he had just reached the top100 and just began to raise hard, therefore there was a gap between these 2 players much deeper than nowadays in term of rankings, as a consequence he was very motivated to make such a performance. It's funny to notice how comments evolve: when Mattenet was completely unknown, people were supporting him highligting his great backhand, now, he is unfair...At least, he has evolved and is currently ranked WR40.Go on dude!

One year and 2 months later, Mattenet has reached the round of 16 of this open before losing against Chen Qi 4 sets to 3, 11-8 at the last set. Another wasted opportunity to beat a chinese.
