I replaced my headlights this weekend with stock Hellas and used this video. I tried polishing the old ones several times and the haze always came back and it was impossible to get inside the light and remove the damage. Overall this video is very good but do note there are 2 screws near the foglights that also have to come out. Also, there are small metal clips that attach the plastic bumper cover to the metal fender that are tricky to get loose and reassemble. You just have to play with them and they will eventually slide out/in. The entire bumper cover does have to be removed but you can leave the wiring connected to the foglights, just be careful to place the assembly on a box or something and don't pull the wires out.

beware, there are two bolts hidden behind the foglight mesh, if you have them, that need to be removed for the bumper to come off. Cracked my bumper bc I didn't know about it.

how did you get to the bolts? i don’t want to break the fog light grill clips
@shafi10a Жыл бұрын
@@tominator344the fog light grilled pops out of their metal tabs. you have to be careful not to bend the mesh but don’t worry, can bend it back in shape

The old headlights with the code 615 are rotary adaptive, rare for W209. They are controlled by a separate control unit, I wonder how Depo are regulated or do they just have a static light?

Thanks for the video ,,I think if you remove the front fender lower liner you can reach up and remove the headlight side bolt then remove the top two ,,,without having to remove the bumper cover.

Hello, thank you for a very informative video. Will this same procedure work on a Mercedes CLK 320 coupe? I have the Hella lamps. Thanks!
@usrauto6 жыл бұрын
Hi Victor, thanks for your kind words. May I kindly ask if you are referring to the W208 Chassis (1998-2002 CLK)? If so, some of the removal may be similar, however, there are various things slightly different due to the chassis completely being different. We apologize for the inconvenience of not being able to accurately confirm as we have yet to work on a local W208 Chassis. Thanks for checking with us!

Thanks for you your reply! I forgot to put that it is a 2005 CLK 320 Coupe W209 chassis with the Hella halogen bulbs.

Hi Victor, if you have the W209 Chassis, the bumper removal should be very similar as to what is shown in the video. Thanks for checking with us!

My 2004 Mercedes’ clk 500 passenger front turn signal doesn’t blink only stays on , how do fix or replace a part for the front turn signal ??
@mitchelllovett51495 жыл бұрын
Very helpful. The bumper/fender brackets are a pain. Working blind with no space to move if you do not take out the splash guard. The two bolts in the lower grill opening must be taken out. (found another tutorial that explained that they were there) The clips that attach the splash guard from Mercedes are a bit pricey. Overall quite an easy procedure.

Does the plastic clips go back in again? They seem very loose. Won't they come off when re-using them?
@usrauto7 жыл бұрын
Hi, if you are referring to the plastic clips for the mud guard and the bumper underside, there should be a middle insert that you are removing to remove them. Without the middle insert, the plastic clip will not hold. If the plastic clip is damaged or broken, this would also cause them not to hold in place firmly. I hope this helps clarify things best.

Yes I was referring to those clips for the mud guard and bumper bottom. Thank you very much!

Hi, Are The Convertible Headlights Different From The HardTops?
@usrauto6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. As long as you have the W209 Chassis, I believe the headlight fitment should not be affected between the coupe vs the convertible models for the W209 Chassis. You do need to check Factory headlight settings as the Factory Xenon vs the Factory Halogen headlights are not interchangeable. Thanks for checking.

You may reach us here - www.uniquestyleracings.com/index.php?route=information/contact If messaged, we will be sure to follow up as soon as possible to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for the tutorial, though you didnt place the bumper correctly.
@garrett7936 жыл бұрын
I was just gonna say that it doesn’t look right lol How do you re- assemble the bumper so that everything aligns correctly. Maybe those headlights aren’t a correct fit? Was gonna replace my halogen headlights with hella and want everything to look even. Ive seen this many times with these cars on the road where the bumpers don’t look like they were installed correctly 🙄
@TheCybertester6 жыл бұрын
The small metal bracket hes removing at 2:00 is the problem. You have to bend it a bit together and make sure when you put it back in, that you push the bumper upwards, so that there is no gap. I fixed my bumper a couple of days ago and its sitting perfectly now

@usrauto8 жыл бұрын
Hi Jermaine, thanks for asking! If you are sure that you have the "W209" Chassis and not the older "W208" Chassis, then the headlights shown in the video should be a plug and play fitment as long as you have Factory Halogen settings. If you are ever unsure whether if you have the W208 or the W209 Chassis, please feel free to contact us on our main site and also forward a clear photo of your vehicle for us to confirm for you: www.uniquestyleracings.com/index.php?route=information/contact Thank you!
