@@jamesswart9179 I was in VA 165 Whidbey Island and you're right the forward Galley was all fast food remember we were in the Philippines and got sent out to Indian Ocean

Yes I remember, what shop were you in. I was in the line division, I was a plane captain. Do you remember when we got hit by the tanker ship. I remember waking up to the collision alarm going off and them announcing that it was not a drill.

I was on that ship in 1984. I still laugh when I remember the time a 130 marine from that ship knocked out two huge sailors from the destroyer pyro .they were asking for it .great ship good memories.

@@daviddealba9886 No kidding, I was a new guy also. We have defiantly crossed paths. I was in G-3 then, forward assembly. I'm sure I saw you checking locks down there more than once. I hung out with Steve Gasparro from time to time.

I was part of the color guard .or when they had the concert on base at Coronado island .we started drinking beer at 12 while doing laundry and didn’t stop until the mp’s brought us back to the ship after getting into a fight with those guys from the pyro .

This is a kind of whitewashed version. I was one of the very first people assigned to Connie and was on board her through the Cuban missile conflict. No pictures of the devastating fire at the shipyard, no mention of the fire during the shakedown cruise that killed several sailors and almost caused the ship to sink off Bermuda. No interior shots. Boring account.
