ATLANTIC OCEAN (Nov. 25, 2015) Culinary Specialists prepare cake and rolls by hand aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) for Thanksgiving. With more than 5000 Sailors to feed, the chefs are working overtime in the carrier's galley. Dwight D. Eisenhower and embarked Carrier Air Wing 3 are underway training and certifying systems for an upcoming deployment as part of the optimized fleet response plan. I was an Infantry paratrooper in the ARMY. I have to say you cooks did an outstanding job all the time. In garrison my favorite meal was breakfast. You all made SOS and scrambled eggs like no tomorrow. I love it to this day! In the field-where I spent most of my time- your meals packed in those plastic mermite containers may have been cold by the time we got them but were still tasty and very welcomed. Thanks for all you did, Brother!

Respect to Cooks on USN DDE. Dad was CPO cook for (35) years (ret. 1980) & cooks always try to do their best. Conditions at times may not be ideal, but cooks always try to do their best. They know the Mission & are satisfied when they know the crews needs were met. 5,000 customers 3X a day is a challenge which always imoresses me. God Bless & you are underappreciated. 🇺🇸

I was doing my mess cooking 3 months when president carter came onboard, they assigned me temporarily to a different mess quarter, where they had me help prepare "chittlings ",for the group,as no one had ever cooked them before ,so me being their resident hillbilly ,it fell to me

Americans treasure the events such as Thanksgiving and Christmas very much. I am Japanese. In Japan, valuable traditions and culture are being lost, as the memorial day etc. are now moving on Monday and Friday instead of traditional traditional days, and it has been consecutive holidays.

Don't let them change your culture! Your tradition! That makes me angry here in America when they try doing that! Stay Strong!

Most of This Sailors are Saying Why am I Here instead in the Deck or in the Bridge. Some Say well, Better Here in the Galley or in the Kitchen than Cleaning the Gadamn Toilets of this Carrier. 😀

Anyone complaining about carrier life should go out and live with the boots on ground in shit holes and eating mre's. Compared to that, this is hard work no doubt but living is pretty good compared to many other combat deployed branches.

,I’ve lived in the desert for months with no shower, no toilet, no electricity, little water and lived off one mre a day for weeks on a tank, either freezing at night or burning up during the day. Ship life, any ship, is good-to-go easy living in my humble opinion. Plus noone is taking pot shots at you with mortars and artillery or sniping your ass. Anyone who serves, regardless of their job or duty station, is a hero in my book. And you are correct, it’s not a competition. Semper Fi. Oh, Navy chow is excellant, Army food at Fort Knox was edible but thats about it, I think a food service cooked it. Haven’t had Air Force food but I bet its good too. Marine chow is good, Paris Island was the best because we were starving ALL the time. 👍

Their hands were in a sink with soap and water. You only wear gloves when touching prepared food. All this food will be heated and and any harmful bacteria will be dead.

They’re cooking for 5,000 people. At least twenty cooks in the kitchen. They start work about five hours earlier than other rates on the ship. Maybe don’t criticize??? Pretty sure you haven’t made food for 5,000 people three times a day

@@Pepperjohnson99 your right, i haven't cooked for that many people. I was in the army and the cooks were the the best part. I know they they work their asses off and breakfast was the best. Unfortunately this video shows them not busting ass like they usually do. Dont blame me blame the person who uploaded this video
